ok on my first couple of runs i got about 2650 with xp3200, 6800nu stock.
oc it 400/900 n got around 3200. used 61.77 driver.

then i used 66.29 n ran the test again
3270 with xp3200, 6800nu stock.
4000 with xp3200, 6800nu (400/900)

25% increase with diff driver?

i dont recall 25% increase with diff driver on 3dmark01/03.. maybe 10% at max. maybe i should run old 3dmark with 61.77 n 66.29..

Thats nothing. On my 9700 Pro with the D3 beta driver (plays D3 very smooth) it got a whopping 917 marks.

I changed to the latest driver from ATi's website and the score went to 2219.

I think that beats the 25% bump for a driver change.

not only did you change driver but you oced as well both can make a score go up...

I went from 45xx with the Forceware 66.00 Betas to 56xx 3D Marks just by switching to the 66.70 drivers. I think that its great that both ATI and NV release drivers right around the time 3DMark05 is released and all of a sudden peoples scores jump 1000 points just from a new driver set , but most games are completely unchanged. Man talk about coincidental

Wrong, he was saying that it was OC'ed on the first run through. All he did was change drivers. And oh yeah, if you didn't notice, some people are getting HUGE performance boosts going from the 61.77 to the 66's. Hopefully we'll keep getting better and better performance increases. So the driver definitely will influence a score.

i wish both companies get their asses working and optimize the drivers for GAMES and not for stupid benchmarks

Well I went from the 66.30 drivers to 66.70 Forceware Beta drivers and went from 4480 to 5240.

I wouldn't say 3dmark05 isnt very accurate since it does provide a good overall performance outlook that seems to be more right than wrong, but I have to disagree with their reasoning on certain things. Like enabling by default support for depth stencil textures, which to date is mainly a feature specific to nvidia hardware. Hexus did some benchmarks and it inflates scores roughly 14%.

xp3200+, 6800nu
61.77 vs 66.29
2650 vs 3270 (325/700)
3200 vs 4000 (400/900)
25% increase is hugh.

6800gt with 66.29 would waste 6800ultra with 61.77 in 3dmark05, cos 6800ultra isn't 25% faster than the 6800gt.

u dont get 25% increase in doom3, aquamark3 and 3dmark01/03, but only in 3dmark05.

XP 3200+
1 gig corsair 3200ram
X800XT PE
3dmark 05- 5,955 Cant seem to break 6,000. Damn processor bottleneck.
