Dear All
Bearing in mind that i have a big overarching thermalright xp-120, and two dual slot graphics cards (arctic cooling nv5), what quiet chipset cooler should i get for the a8n-sli to replace the loud one there now?
thanks

Here, there's already a short thread on this with one or two suggestions. Having said that, you may have to look for something pretty flat with those NV5 Silencers on your video cards, don't remember if any the suggestions included a flat one, or just some fairly tall heatsinks with fans. Err...maybe one of the Vantec Iceberq's if it has the right mounting holes, or like the old Thermaltake Orbs?

Here's the link:

Please check my reply in the thread that was linked above. From everything I have read I believe the best solution is to use the Zalman NB-47J and then mount a Zalman FB123 and run it in quiet mode. This solution will fit with 6800GTs in SLI, provide much better cooler for that area of the motherboard, and be very quiet. For $11.98 you get a Zalman chipset heatsink, thermal grease, 80mm Zalman quiet fan, and a great fan mount. I've seen pictures of a few other ideas, but I think this solution is the easiest and most efficient.

If you read the links in my reply in the thread mentioned above you have found that a guy emailed Zalman and they said the heatsink will work on the A8N-SLI with two 6800GTs in SLI. The problem then becomes heat not noise. The FB123 is the best fan solution I can think of that will provide airflow not only for the chipset heatsink, but also for the area between the two video cards. Its also the quietest.

A8N-SLI with heasink installed.

You can mount it tons of different ways too.

I've got a Zalman passive on mine with two 6800s, and it works great. It should have plenty of room with those coolers as far as I can tell.
