I mentioned this in another thread but I feel as though this deserves it's own thread to bring it more attention. I'm trying to figure out something about this monitort. When I try to view 480i/480p content on the monitor through either component or composite input the image has the wrong aspect ratio causing it to be stretched. It doesn't matter if I select 1:1 or "Aspect" they're both wrong.

4:3 content via PC (correct aspect ratio and geometry)

4:3 content via composite using a VCR as TV tuner in "Aspect" mode. As you can see it's stretched for whatever reason.

To all the people using this for HDTV, how much screen does your 480p content take up? It should be about 2 inches of space per black bar if it's the correct aspect...

The 2405 has problems with aspect ratio when using component. This has been confirmed by several people. I don't know about the composite.

When using 480i/480p it comes out as 5:4 ratio.

Could you point me to one comment or article that states this problem? What's the point of the added inputs if they cause the images to be distorted?

Made a mistake. It's actually 3:2. Not 5:4. My bad.

If you don't mind if it's in Japanese, here it is.

Easy. Marketing. Whether it works or not, people will buy just for the feature. If everything is perfect, why make revisions or make new products? Maybe Dell might fix this problem in the future?

The monitor has problems with 480i/480p, but not 720p or 1080i. (have not confirmed on 720p) I do have the same monitor here in the US, and have the same problem.
