Optimus Keyboard

Holy shit, that might be the coolest thing ever! I'd buy that, even at like 300 bucks.

That is an awesome keyboard. I'd love it for Photoshop because I can never remember which keys do what for the shortcuts.. lol.
 
Sorry to rain on your parades guys, but I think this is just an art project. I see this as being down the road in a few years, but I would be willing to pay $200 for one now if they were to come out now.

Its also linked on Slashdot so you might want to save the photos if you really like it as it is sure to get slashdotted.
 
I noticed it was just a design study and not an actual product, I really want one tho, but I really think it is funny that they had a E-Mule Icon on one of the keys :). I dont know what kind of software or even hardware you would have to have to power the keyboard.
Put me on that bulk purchase list, I want one no matter what it costs. I see all kinds of potential in that keyboard, Stuff like MBM5 plugins and gameing and even one handed surfing ;)
 
Does say patents pending, can't imagine if it was just an art project that they would need patents...unless of course they are just toying with us :)

I want one now.

The thought of having plugins for monitoring things display stuff on the keys would be sweet. Use the keys that you never use for anything else display your monitoring results....
 
Doesn't really matter if it's just a study or what, it's been seen and now somebody will build it and sell it.

now if they would just make a "natural" one then I'd be in. I love my MS natural keyboard and even bought one for reserve. I will never go back!
 
Would it work in Linux? :confused: I guess not...since it's well-known that Linux is almost always ignored by PC manfacturers. :( I think I'd prefer a Happy Hacking keyboard though... ;)
 
WTH is with this keyboard? It isn't that good, yet I've seen it posted on just about every hardware site and even a few portals.
 
I want this keyboard. Someone needs to make it.

You do realize that the keys will have to be lexan encased and they will wear out. I'll admit I've a little heavy handed.

But still, I want one too.
 
I e-mailed them showing my support of the project. Hopefully this will help them decide to manufacture it. Perhaps if we all e-mail them they will see that there is a large demand for something like this and they might seek a manufacturer.

Someone should email them links to all of the forum posts and articles that have been on the internet about this... I've seen this on at least four or five sites and a hell of a lot of people are interested and are willing to pay a lot of money for it. If they knew the insane interest in this thing they'd have to start producing them. I would sell my kids for one.

If they made a Windows version I'm there!!!
 
I imagine the only real difference between a mac/pc version would be the various software installs. USB is USB. :) Either way, if they only sell to Mac users, they're cutting out a massive client base, and that's just bad business.

I want one soooo bad.
 
Sweet! Imagine having your screensaver played out on the keys.. or have your wallpaper cover the keys when your AFK.

I will DEFINITELY purchase 2 or 3 of these when they come out. Can you imagine the possibilities with a SDK released as well? That opens up unlimited possibilities...
