Problems with my 2405FPW?

Well I got the screen (Dell 2405FPW) about a week ago, but have become increasingly paranoid about its condition. Dead pixels backlight bleed and how the screen stands. I've attempted with a crap camera and my shoddy phtogoraphy to takes some pics (NB: the picture I tried to get for backlight bleed was very difficult as you couldn't see the screen on most pics, you can see it here and it looks brighter in a corner but I think thats due to the angle of the shot).

Also I think the screen sags a bit on the button side, I have heard someone else say about this but is this normal or not? I don't think its much, but well I want to get a good screen. backlight bleed also worries me. Unfortunately (sp) I didn't take good enough shots to show the sag but I tried. :( Any help/opinions about this will be appreciated.

If there's dead pixels and significant bleeding/ problems with stand you should RMA it. Dell give ya' 3 years right?

Yeah, but I'm not really sure there are any. I've been getting a bit paranoid, but would like the opinions of other 2405FPW owners on any possible problems. I remember reading somewhere that others have had problem with that stand thing, I think so at least.

As far as the sag goes I've read that a lot of other owners including me have had a similar problem. What I did was stick two heavy duty felt pads together and placed them under the monitor stand on the right side. The monitor is level now. The pads are 1 inch in diameter and used to protect surfaces from lamps, computer equipment etc. As far as your back light issue it's difficult to judge from the picture. You need to view the monitor in a totally dark room with no lights shinning on it. The main issue people had was noise from the monitor when it got warm. I have no issues with my 2405 except for the sag. Also, one thing I don't like about the monitor is it has a very small viewing angle. You need to view it straight on for best picture. Other than that I love this monitor.

the sag is hit and miss...its basically how the swivel and panel fits together...its not one or the other that is causing the sag..if u get a replacement hold onto the swivel and try it on both

I can appreciate someone who gets paranoid about problems that may not be there. . . I do the same thing. But, some advice: It sounds like you're not actually noticing any problems and yet are worried that the problems are there. I'd set aside 10 minutes to really just sit in front of your monitor and check it out inch-by-inch. At the end of that 10 minutes, make a final decision about whether it is acceptable to you or not. Nobody here can truly tell if there is blacklight bleeding beyond what you find acceptable.

If it's there, and it bothers you, RMA it. But, otherwise, decide that you find it acceptable and start enjoying your awesome monitor! :D

There is a pin that follows a groove/channel, and what I noticed on two 2405's is that the groove is not cut far enough. You could probably get a dremel and notch it out more but you might go too far and it will sag the other way :p Maybe it's a different problem on others but from my observation it's the groove.

You have 21 days to exchange it free of charge for a new one to be overnighted to you. If you have CONFIRMED issues with the monitor, send it back, Im glad I did mine and now, no stand leaning issues and no backlight leakage. :D
