This is my 3rd major Mod. It is based on "Abuela" my 1972 VW Safari Bus that I lived in for around 10 years. I had just sold it less than a hour before I found this little toy at "Wally-World" and I knew what I had to do.

Here is Abuela

As you can see from the side by side shots I could build a house in this thing!

This thing is Huge so I have not even begun to decide on everything to give it. I am going to start with a MSI mobo, Sony DVD, ATI 9600XT and a maxtor or two 40gig drives to start, stuff I have on hand. It "should" still drive when I am done, I hope. All this may change, my budget change's too much to know right now but here is the start of another "Wander" for me.

I am very interested in all comment's!

I lived in it because I wanted to. I saw and did enough for a lifetime. I loved almost every moment! Money was not a problem.

awwww. and i was hoping for a LoTR inspired case.

but i'll be followin this one, seems intriguing.

In theory is it possible to change the "Post Beep" by connecting the mobo speaker pins to a relay that is connected to a powered custom sound board and then to a case speaker?

I must have the "Post Beep" be the VW Bus horn sound!

I posted in your other thread. Its a shame that almost all models of VW vans are the split window type.

Sorry I was going to do some work on the body and interior layout today then post pics but must take advantage of the SUN to fix my roof :( Will post Friday or Saturday!

Here's the cut's I got done today-

SLOW Sanding now

I was thinking about it and I have been thinking about turning my wife's computer into a
media center for about a year now.
I have had all the parts for the same amount of time too

Here's the victim-

I know, I need a new camera.

Very nice so far. I didn't realize how big it was the other day when I first viewed. Have you considered the weight the PC components and the RC ones on the plastic (assume it is anyway) frame. You may want to try and either reinforce the frame and the wheels or build a new one. Some who have been here a few years will remember ProjectTwin's RC Chevy Avalanche RC Car and PC Mod and how he had to build a new frame out of Aluminum to support it's weight. Just something for you to consider.

Another thing he did or at least attempted was to have the Avalanche fully drivable while the PC was on by using laptop type batteries towed in a custom built trailer. Another idea I'm just throwing out for you that you may want to consider.

Also, I would suggest going with wireless mouse and keybourd and internet as well. The less cables to deal with on that the better.

Thank You and yes, I got worried about that. So I charged it up, loaded it up and ran it around to test this(I was going to try and keep it "Zero Miles" but), this is why I am going to strip the steal power supply housing because as you can see sits on the tail.
All the rest sits in the center of the chassis and is quite sold.

My wife has a logitech wireless K/M combo, I was not going to post this as one of the components that I have on hand because it SUCK's and I am getting a new one for her soon.

As for wireless net, I want keep weight down so that it will still have some RC batt. life. I don't feel that among the other cables that easily plug and unplug(power/sound/CATV/video) it will add too much to just go wired.

By Sobek-"Another thing he did or at least attempted was to have the Avalanche fully drivable while the PC was on by using laptop type batteries towed in a custom built trailer."
I really like this idea but like I said this will be a living room media center, so to me and wife keeping it semi-small seems best(for now). Maybe a NAS trailer one day? :D

Again, thank you for all the questions!

nice, I definatly didn't notice how big that thing was until you put a motherboard on it, and I was like woah...that is big. Cool idea, hope it goes well.

A lot of people have been having a problem telling how big the Bus is so here-

Will post more at my next F.E.A.R. break...whenever that might be, it is just sucking me in.

Offtopic: Yea, F.E.A.R. is a nice game, so are the Rooster Teeth video spoofs(the guys that did Red Vs. Blue; make sure to check it out!)

Ontopic: I was kindof curious if that thing would fit a computer in it, but now that I see the scale of that beast, thats a sweet idea!

Dude, that's a big friggin Rc-car! Looking forward of seeing the completed "product"! subscribed :)

Ok a F.E.A.R. break has come but I am not the only thing to break.
"Good things come in three's?"

Victim #1

The gift camera of 2 years ago - Lovely black pics - DEAD
Here is the new camera a HP M415, only paid $130.00 for it and can return it so if anyone
has comments about this camera let me know. So far it seems OK but I must have the A/C adapter for it, sitting taking shot's on batteries is just to expensive($11 for 4 E2's).

58162976_c49adc71b5_o.jpg

Victim #2

The Dremal Flex Shaft - No more spin - DEAD

I think we have all seen enough pics of these!

And Victim #3

Install #? of Win XP Pro -I thought I would give some business to Steganos, but their
"Security Suite & Internet Anonym Pro" did not like Win XP explorer very much along with 7 unanswered e-mail to tech support, so they get a "Charge Back" and I restore this weeks backup.

But on that note-

TO ALL THOSE THAT DON'T BACK-UP EVERYTHING

START

I just saved some money (7x$15=$105) this week by "restoring" several "Back-ups" of CD's that got stolen out of my truck because I left them on the seat with the window down!
Be The Pack Rat!

And here is some stuff I found when I was out and about over the weekend-

Carpet!

Mini-Automotive Carpet!
Made by-
Hoppin' Hydro's
Cerritos, CA 90703
58162981_618b8dfa2a_o.jpg

58162990_28dadb5848_o.jpg

The hobby shop said it was for 1/32 scale but looking at it it seems better for at the
smallest 1/12. It comes in several colors and is about 10" x 12".

The starting parts for the Mobo & power supply tray
Some Lucite, carriage bolts and hex nuts!(Exciting isn't it)
58162996_31618d43e7_o.jpg

I just love going into my small town(POP.3500) hardware store and trying to explain to the
70 year old dude that knows it all and must help a "young fellow", that "Yes, you can by
parts for a computer at a hardware store."

And like most, I have helpers.
This is just one of the four.
58162992_d05e7054df_o.jpg

aye, i have 3 helpers like that too!!!

they just mostly manage, inspect, and oversee more than any real work they do....gotta love the furballs though!

I think I am getting old? Its's taking me to long to figure out this new camera, of course I did have to exchange it for one with a power system that was not "possessed".

Here is some more stuff I found this week for the project

Some Glue and foam
61094618_c4afee30e3.jpg
61094617_2a9f61e5eb.jpg

Some switches On, Power & Reset. The PSU switch that I am going to use and have it's key made into a VW key some how?
61094616_2103d06976.jpg
61094615_952ce05e68.jpg

Here is my "Fool-Proof-Hi-Tech" Lucite cutting station
61094614_b8d25af8d9_o.jpg

Check out the "Variable Speed Drill Press"

And the start of the drive tray

And before anyone screams about the lucite it will not be clear when I am done so I can draw and scratch away!
The wife is going back to visit the midwest for 5 days this weekend so it time to play, more in a day or so!

I remember when he started that, but I lost track of it part way through. Do you (or does anyone else) know if his worklog is still alive somewhere?

That bus is huge! At first I was thinking you're crazy if you think you can fit a normal computers worth of parts in it.

But that bus has room to spare!

It was deleted here back in March 2004 IIRC. I can't find it anywhere else.

Here is his website: http://www.projecttwin.com/

Sorry for it taking so long to post, I was having too much fun with the wife away.

Sorry, guys I have been working on starting a Internet broadcast out by 2/14 but I will post some new work on the system within 2 weeks.

I think I my get my butt kicked if I dont get "someone's" computer back together soon anyway......

iaskedTGT - are you the guy that made that 'Journey' or something movie? Traveled around the country interviewing celebrities, getting advice, etc - selling grilled cheese sammiches for gas money?

Sweet Idea for a mod. I vote you find a very small smoke machine and put in there to complete the effect.

By-Tyklfe-are you the guy that made that 'Journey' or something movie? Traveled around the country interviewing celebrities, getting advice, etc - selling grilled cheese sammiches for gas money?

No, but I do know him and alot of his friends.

I do have about 10x to much video and pics of that part of my life.

I am working on something like their movie though but it is about homelessness and the Chemical unbalance that never gets addressed.

I thought that thing was pretty small at start, but then you slapped the FEAR DVD next to it :O

DAMN I want one! looks like I could fit my A8N SLI in there!

Hi, man!
May I ask if you have a plan for a paint job?
What would it be? :D

Things are coming along nicely, congratulations! (and sorry for my bad english  )
