there are literally thousands of different chips that have TSOP written on them..

You really aren't impressing ANYONE.
You might find reading the The previous day's post (Wednesday Nov 16, 2005 on http://softlife.blogspot.com) where I clearly state that the TSOP found of my specific motherboard was actually a Hynix HY27US08281A. I then listed the some of the features of that particular chip.
I use the word TSOP to describe the chip, much like I would use CPU and CMOS as generic descriptions of those chips functions - Do I really need to refer to it by the manufacturer's arbitrary product code throughout my article?
And since it it VERY LIKELY that multiple chip manufacturers and different chips were used to perform the function of holding the bootstrap code on the Xbox360....- not just the HY27US08281A which I found on my motherboard.... it would be STUPID to use anything but the generic chip name (in this case TSOP) when writing the article.
Do you also roll your eyes when someone uses the term "CPU"?
man, I hate dumb-asses.... and you are a huge one.

I'd like to have a 360... but my grades are bad enough (I type as I sit in my numerical methods class not paying attention)... and i'm broke... and i'm cheap...

SCSI-Terminator said:TSOP doesn't discribe the chips function, where as terms like Boot-Rom or Boot-Flash do.
SCSI-Terminator said:We don't call P4s or Athlons the computer's LGA775 or PGA939 do we?
pedantic ones too...SCSI-Terminator said:I also hate dumb-asses.
RancidWAnnaRIot said:TSOP is generic.. litterally thousands of chips with DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS, come in a TSOP form..
mattsson said:NOT ON THE XBOX.
there is but 1 TSOP. ONE. UNO. a singleton. one lonesone tsop chip. not two tsop chips.
*** and not 10 TSOP chips doing 10 different functons. ***
Have you EVER read any xbox related material? have you ever worked on any xbox systems? have you ever programmed any IC's on the XBOX????
have you ever flashed an Xbox bios? rebuilt the have you ever rebuilt a LPC? tapped an LDT?
When I write about the Xbox motherboard, I am writing to people who INHERENTLY know what I'm refering to when I talk about flashing the TSOP.
They dont expect me to have to list all 500 different possibly makes and models.
RancidWAnnaRIot said:there's really no point in arguing this anymore..
first.. i understand what you're trying to say.. and i sitll disagree.. i don't care if there is 1 or a million TSOP packaged chips on the XBOX.. the term is still used wrong.
RancidWAnnaRIot said:i know that text doesn't do a good job of displaying tone of voice..
RancidWAnnaRIot said:The term is still being used wrong.. and i stand by that.. i see what you're saying... and it reasonable.. but in my opinon it's wrong to use it like that..
RancidWAnnaRIot said:ANother comment.. why are you only writting to peopel who inherently know about the
Xbox internals.. i mean shit.. you shoudl make this a learning experience for everyone to read and learn.. that would make it a much more meaningful thread

stop complaining, i got what he ment because i have worked on xboxs before, hes doing us a favor buy opening a 400 dollar console and showing us the inside and voiding the warrenty so if it breaks tomorrow hes screwed, i enjoyed his posts and website, why you have to crap on him and the time he spent writing it up, if anything you could have crapped on his site in a little nicer way like "oh he used the term TSOP incorrectly" but no you have to be very rude while you do it.RancidWAnnaRIot said:he talks like the name of the chip is TSOP..
