The Nintendo Switch 2 Thread

He has a 3080. Why would he play Doom and The Witcher 3 on the switch?

Good 'ol Smash. There aren't many games that have a skill curve like that game. With 4 players, random levels, and items enabled it's pure chaotic fun. It also borders on total luck, too. Yet if you tinker with the parameters a bit, it requires as much skill and finesse as any game ever has. Plus, it's absolutely gigantic.

This is way off topic for this thread but I’m currently playing (and fully submersed in) The Witcher 3 on my PC. Where the f*ck has this game been all my life? Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to discover this gem.

Next up: BotW on the Switch
BotW is also great, you'll enjoy it. But yes, witcher is amazing and i can't wait for the ps5 release to replay it. I haven't done any of the DLC's yet.

Depending on their age, your kids might enjoy BotW as well

Bumping the correct thread with new information. Nintendo confirmed that they will be announcing the successor to the Switch this fiscal year during their last financial earnings call. Nintendo's fiscal year runs from April 1 through March 31. It will not be announced at the big Nintendo Direct stream next month. A dedicated event for its announcement is expected.

I appreciate Nintendo setting expectations for next month's Nintendo Direct - however, I'm hoping they'll at least confirm b/c for the upcoming Switch games. IE: "Available November 2024 for Nintendo Switch and Future Nintendo Console").

Kicking myself for not just having bought a switch a year or two ago about now... Switch 2 could easily be a year away still. I'll really kick myself if it's not backwards compatible :ROFLMAO:.

It's gotta be 60fps minimum docked. Like it has to have this. It's painful to play now.
Meh, 60 is nice but I'm fine with 30. Still playing TotK right now and have zero issues with its performance even with it occasionally stuttering when I engage the Ultrahand mode and stuff. It's far from unplayable IMO like I see many complain about.

Playing through Metroid Prime Remastered now too and it's at 60 at least and runs great. I'm looking forward to the next Switch, but for what it is I think the Switch is still fine and I'm amazed at the performance they've been able to squeeze out of this decade old SoC now. It's still more than capable of playing a lot of big indie games now at 60 too like Dave the Diver and Animal Well, which is where the Switch still shines as a portable console.
