So the PSP is now 200$
But its missing everything the 250$ version had. All you get is a PSP and AC adaptor.
I fail to see how I'm saving any money if the stuff they included, which you need, is gone, and I have to buy it anyway.

How do you tell me A+B costs this much, and now it costs this much, but now you're not getting B.

umm..... WTF?

Who falls for this shit, seriously?

LOL i agree 100%... i don't understand it at all....

The other stuff they had bundled was complete garbage. UMD Demo disk (no playable games), wrist strap which was too big and stiff (and white???), and the sucky lcd cloth which many claimed to scratch the screen.

P.S. If you want to pay me $50 for this stuff it's all yours :)

Ahh didn't know it didn't come with one. That's pretty lame since you need one to save your games.

My sentiments exactly.

You know, i love my PS2, i really do, but I wont buy anything from Sony till they figure out that they arent some super elite society and everyelse is dumber than they are.

"Here! buy our thing! Its cheaper now! But disregard the missing stuff, will ya?"

fuckin muppets...

Its not that they dropped the price and took away stuff, they just added a new SKU. If you look the "PSP Value Pack" which was the only thing available at launch is still the 250$ it was at launch. They simply added a new SKU which they dubbed the "PSP Core" for 200$. (Copying Microsoft now Sony?)

oh great, so i guess that means this isnt news at all.
:rolleyes:sony:rolleyes:

sooooooooo......
whos buying a DS lite next month? ;)

Yeah, as Erasmus354 mentioned they just added a new "package". Both this $200 "barebones" package and the $250 "Value Pack" have been available in Japan since the PSP's launch. However, they only decided to sell the $250 "Value Pack" in America, until now.

If were to buy a PSP right now, I'd probably get one of the $200 packs and use the $50 I saved on a 1GB memory stick.

Lots of people criticized sony for only releasing the value pack here, complaining that they didnt want all that extra crap and wanted just the system (i think the equivalent price to japan was ~190). Now other people complain that there's 2 SKUs...they cant win i guess.

They should have had them both at launch... I don't want to pay $50 for a strap i'll never use and a worthless 32 meg card... i'd rather have paid $199 and bought the 1 gig memory stick like I did and saved a little money. They took long enough to release this pack in the US, but its misleading for them to say the PSP dropped price when it didn't.

dj_2004 summed it up nicely. All that crap they bundled for $250 was garbage. I watched the "demo disk" once. It's not much of a demo if you can't play any of the games. I replaced the wrist strap with a better one from my old digital camera (it was a Sony so I know they can bundle better straps). I used the near useless "remote" a time or too. I say near useless since it's only helpfull if you are sitting back watching a movie with the PSP not in your hand. Any other time you can move your fingers to adjust volume, playback, etc. I never carry around my PSP to listen to music since there are better and smaller mp3 players out there but if you actually do want the crappy headphones (don't use them either) and "remote", I have seen them in the clearance section at Wallmart and Target for about $8.
I actually use my cleaning cloth to wipe dirt of my screen and it doesn't scratch it because the first thing I did when I opened my PSP was stick a screen protector on it which has lasted 5 months now. If you actually want a 32mb MSPD to be included with the PSP you are retarded...dun-dun-da! You can't put anything on it except a few game saves and mp3's. The extra packs for Wipeout pure that you download take up 63mb alone. You are better off spending the $50 you save by not getting all that crap and buying a Sandisk 1GB MSPD.

The only accessory from the value pack I use is the carry case. I still find it to be perfect for me in most cases when I'm not traveling.

Fortunately for me, i found my psp on ebay with everything including the case, strap, card, earbuds, spiderman movie, 3 games, and brand new for my $250 when it first came out, so was worth it for me...Just waiting for the hard drive prices to drop..

Don't get the HDD, they are bulky and overpriced (and slow). If you meant the MS then they are already cheap. 1GB for $50 is pretty damn good.

2gb are dropping fairly quick i heard also..(sub 100 in some stores i think) I did hear that they are going to have some pretty good size hdd for the psp in the next few years, so may be worth it to wait possibly.

200$ is a good price for the barbone PSP. I hated how the value pack forced you go buy the PSP with all the useless garbage. The only thing I really use is the soft cover that it came with, and I still had to buy a Logitech one for other uses. The headphones and useless remote that came with it is pretty much just like any stock headphones, shitty. Useless wrist strap that makes the PSP looks stupid, and the soft clothe for cleaning, not much help.

With the 200$, people can at least spend the extra money on something useful, such as a 1Gb memory, screen protector and a case for it.

But I need that remote to play my Quake 2 :( .
