Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
With all the display gurus in this forum, I am surprised to see no one has yet to answer this. More than just myself will find this information useful. Does anyone have an input?
That depends on how good the dithering of the VX924 is, which I do not know. Do you see banding in gradients or loss of detail on dark areas in games or artifacts in movies? Some TN panels have such good dithering that you'll be hard pressed to tell if it's 6-bit or 8-bit, unless you're an image editing professional. So if you don't notice any of those artifacts, the extra money probably won't be worth it.
Since it's not been mentioned I feel I should point out that 16.2 million colours is a made up figure. Sometimes also referred to as 16 million colours, It refers to a 6bit panel that actually only has 262,144 colours. This sounds terrible but like Shamen says they use dithering to compensate for this.
I work in photography/graphics and I am forced to use 6bit panels against my will where I work and I must say that sometimes it works pretty well. Also I must point out that some 8bit panels, like the Dell 2407, are also plagued with banding problems so it's never a simple choice even if you are looking for a quality screen. That being said, when I am choosing a screen for myself I would never buy a 6bit panel.
Volucris i used to own a vewsonic vx924.... i can tell you that the difference with that 6bit TN panel and an S-IPS panel is huge!!! i went from that monitor to an apple cinema 30" and from day one till now i am still in awe... the colors are so accurate and so vivid.. moving my head doesnt color shift like the vx924 did... and the whites are so white compared to weird pale or something cool blue.. depending on whcih temp you have it at... i used to use teh sRGB setting... but ghosting is apparent in the huge monitor.. rated at 14ms... you will notice ghosting compared to your TN panel... but when i play games i dont notice it at all anymore its bearable... thats just my opinion
