yeah man I tried it on "super performance mode" and wasn't getting anywhere... I'll try it again in a few minutes. I'm also gonna try cs 1.6 since I know people play CS on these machine... I hear the framerate isn't much over 30 but it's playable... So you say a reinstall helped your 1000HE...

As a follow up... my total reinstallation of steam and DOD was dissapointing as my framerate was still "lower then a snake belly in a wagon wheel rut" ...anyone of y'all w/ 1000HE's running DOD or CS 1.6?? What sorta framerates are you registering? Thankee

Hey that is pretty cool... I think it's a smart idea for ASUS. I have been seeing the 1000HA's for $330, which is a great price considering, but I picked up the 1000HE for $360 with extra ram so the $30 is easily justified imo.

yeah this is a pretty old trick for "stealthing" (thats what they call it) the drives on the cheap. Looks like you did a good job with yours.
