Doesn't the Air have a full size keyboard? Even small amount of photoshop I rely on keyboard shortcuts, I think that would be a huge selling point. The tiny keyboards are within 5% of a full size usually, but even with it being so close, you totally notice.
macrumors.com has a buyers guide that gives average number of days of version releses and what day in the cycle that apple is currently on. Good for that sort of thing. The refurb option is a very good one, especially after they release a newer version, then it tends to drop a bit more. I have...
I'm using the current MBP 13, and also have a steam account, I play TF2, not nearly as well as my gaming rig, but it works. Still not a gaming machine, but not unusable by any means.

All I can say is, it's about time Apple came through with this. I think that Steam/Valve has been working towards this for awhile now. It's a win/win for all involved. Neat. I agree that its a possible innovation point, I don't see this as being the next big thing. Touchscreens and tablets PCs could catch on more, but the hybrid thing I really can't picture.
I have a couple of Lenovo's in my apt, s10e/s10 and a T400, overall great build quality (I have a newer T400), I have only heard good things about the x300, x200 and now they have the x100 for a very reasonable price.
