My short answer is the P67 Sabertooth would fit your needs. I own this board and am pleased with it.
You could also sacrifice clock speed & overclockability for more power efficient sandy bridge chips.
Whether or not any piece of electronic equipment will last 5 years is impossible to...
Hello all.
I recently purchased an Inspiron 6000 with the Celeron 1.5Ghz processor. I wanted to get something as cheap as humanly possible and succeeded. The laptop came with 256MB PC3200 DDR2 ram, which can't be ran at PC4200 (133mhz) speeds. I bought another 256MB PC4200 so-dimm on eBay so...
Before I switched to LCD, I had a Dell P990 that I bought for $35 on eBay. It freaking rocks. 1600x1200 @ 85hz or so. Looked great, colors were great, etc.. I've always liked trinitrons although they do weigh quite a bit :)
I'll let you know once the FedEx dude gets here with my 2005FPW :D
I have a 19" Dell Trinitron and a 15" Sony trinitron (both CRT) for size comparison.
I set the video card back to stock settings without the pixel/vertex things enabled. It was operating at stock core/mem settings before, but I put it back to stock anyways.
Processor now runs 100% stable through Prime95's torture test but only on the "Small FFT" option (maximum FPU stress)...
Temps right now are 36 ambient, 40 proc. Let me disable the pipes/shader and up the processor to see if the video card is the suspect. Good idea, thanks.
I've got the following:
1 gig (2 x 512) PC3200 Kingston RAM
2 Old CD-ROM drives
2 Old PATA HD's, both 7200. One WD 40 gig, One deathstar 30 gig
GeForce 6800NU (pipes/shader unlocked)
1 80mm Sunon Intake fan
1 92mm Sunon Exhaust fan
1 92mm Sunon fan on the CPU
Athlon Mobile 2400+...
Is the card overclocked or did you unlock any pipes/vertex shader? Also, you're removing all the nvidia drivers, correct?
We'll start with the obvious, first :)
My eVGA 6800NU unlocked everything just fine and ran stable with the stock hs/fan with no artifacting at the only speeds i tested it at; 400/801. It will probably go higher, I haven't had a need to push it with stock cooling though.
I installed the new beta forceware drivers and enabled Dual channel. My new updated score with 400/801mhz + 16x, 6vp is:
3997
Not too shabby! My old previous was 3786 with older drivers and dual channel not enabled. By changing these two things, that's a pretty good increase, IMO...
Thank you from a long-time stalker of the boards. My eVGA 6800NU did 16x 6vp without any hiccups. Tested under 3dMark05 and it did just fine.
Stock, out of the box 6800: 3289
Stock speed, 16x 6vp enabled: 3659
400/801, 16x 6vp enabled: 3786
Mobile Athlon XP @ 2.4Ghz (12 x 200mhz), 1 gig...
I have an Athlon Mobile XP @ 2.4Ghz (200 x 12), 1gig kingston cas3 ram, EVGA 6800NU
Stock 6800 settings: 3289 3dMarks
324/702 with 16x 6vp enabled: 3659
400/801 with 16x 6vp enabled: 3786
Is this about on par? 69.33 Drivers, windows xp pro.
This monitor is analog. Would there be a noticable difference in clarity between it and one with a purely digital connection? My video card has ports for both, but if the analog signal is going to degrade quality, especially how text is displayed, I gotta pass.
Good price and refresh!
