Ya, I may as well give that a shot when I throw in the new fans. Still seems kind of strange how unplugging and replugging that one cable makes it work though... I don't know...
Unfortunately I don't have another PSU to try, and I don't know anyone that has a spare one that will work with my system; maybe I could find something in the CS department at my university.
I'll give reseating the heatsink a try, do you think it could be making contact with something? I...
So I have an older computer that has been working fine for some time and I just put it into its new case (Fractal Define R3) with its new heatsink (Thermalright HR-02) and every time I go to start it up the motherboard gets no power and the PSU makes some very subtle clicking noises. But if I...
kharan5876: ya, I've looked through the raid bios and I couldn't find anything to do what I want. I don't think there's an hba bios either, but I'll give it a check.
thanks
So I just threw a supermicro aoc-usas-s8ir I had lying around into a server, and I want to know if it is possible to set it up to just expose the drives to the OS, FreeBSD 7.2. I don't want to use it for any of the raid capabilities, I'm planning on using zfs for that.
Does anyone have any...
alright, the antec is complete junk. It will power fans and seemingly run fine, but it can't power up a motherboard anymore; maybe it's a problem with the 20 pin connector or the 4 pin, but I was able to start up the system with a super cheap OEM gateway psu from around 1999. Either way thanks...
thats what I'm worried about, I don't know what could be wrong with the antec, and I need the PCP&C for my backup server that I'm rebuilding...
Also, I just found the antecs page on newegg

I see...
Though I think I may have just found something out, I took a newer PC Power&Cooling psu with 24pin and hooked the 4-pin molex and 4-pin supplemental connector to the mobo and used the 20pin connector of the antec and was able to power it on, so now I'm thinking the antec is just not...
Helicopter: the psu is too old, the only 4 pin plug is the standard 12v atx plug
Zero82z: The psu seems to work fine when I do the green wire trick, and the motherboard was just pulled out a working system. Right now it's got the 20 pin main connector, the 4-pin supplement connector and a...
So I have an old, from 2005, DFI lanparty UT nf4 SLI-DR that I'm trying to hook up to an old antec true power 550 W. The mobo has a 24 pin atx connector, but the psu only has a 20 pin connector. The system will be fairly light on peripherals, 1 hard drive and a 7800gt, so I figured I would try...
I had the same problem when i tried to use pfsense. My onboard nic's are realtec's & pfsense could not see them so as a shot in the dark i gave monowall a shot & its been running solid for a couple months now.
