One game that gave me a lasting impression was Flight Unlimited in 1995.
It was the first flight sim that used real aerial imagery as ground textures, technically giving the game photo realistic graphics. It was extremely impressive for 1995.
Of course today even google earth has better "graphics"
1983 - ?????
I've been struggling to find anything memorable released this year, so I'm throwing in the towel. No point in choosing a game just for the sake of it. I can't for the world think of a memorable 1983 game while there are half a dozen games for 1984.
The last was Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Considering it is far longer than some complete games I think it counts as its own thing, despite being an expansion and not a stand alone game.
That said newer impressions always feel stronger, but only time will tell how lasting they are.
I can...
Back in the day games often got updated versions during their run, to fix bugs (so much for the myth that games used to be bug free) so maybe the early releases were indeed 1981 and later ones were 1982.
Lemans - 1982
Lemans is one of the original games released with the C64, published by Commodore.
It is a very simple top down driving game, where the goal is to overtake as many cars and as fast as possible without crashing.
The game gets gradually harder with traffic getting more and more...
They are not AI optimists, they are techbros. Huge difference.
I think AI has great potential but techbro driven companies like google, ms, etc. are trying to put the square AI into round holes.
LOL, that's no bug. Yeah, the images reappearing was a bug technically, the real issue is the fact that they didn't delete them in the first place. And frankly it frightens me that you aren't concerned about this at all.
Technically it should be the original launch, but I'm certainly not going to hold anyone accountable for getting it wrong.
Unlike those two guys back there, who immediately ignored the one thing I asked :D
4080 stock - 6410 / 64.1 FPS (score just seems to be FPS multiplied by 100)
On first run it hung on starting UI for me as well, and online validation does not work. Also this has to be the shortest / lamest benchmark they put out yet. 1 test, 60 seconds, it's not even enough for the GPU fan to...
I'm going on a journey to choose a game of the year for each year going back all the way to 1981. The task seems simple at first, but it is harder than you think. There were many years when there were multiple great games and choosing between them is a near impossibility. And worse there were...
I don't think anyone is assuming there is no OFF switch. However it will certainly be strictly opt out, and we all know it is hard to opt out of something you don't know about.
I also wouldn't trust MS for the OFF option to do what is expected. Off might just mean you don't get the benefits (for...
