So I went to change my config file back to DX9 and discovered that the line for DX11 had disappeared so I guess I was running in DX9. Setting it back to DX11 seems to have resolved the flicker issue and the game runs better in general. Alt-tab and login freezing still happens though.

I will try DX9 tonight and see if the offending areas behave the same.

Huh, I get 40-70fps with Dynamic Shadows and Ambient Occlusion OFF and 20-40fps with them ON with my 4870X2 @ 2560x1600... doesn't seem right.

Could be the default FoV. Low FoV tends to make me somewhat motion sick.

My understanding is that AA can be forced in DX9 UE3 engine games only with nVidia cards. You can try with an ATi card, but it doesn't do anything.

I like the game but the UE3 engine always bothers me. No game I've played that was built on UE3 has felt quite right. (And lack of AA sucks too)

WoW does take advantage of multiple GPUs. It's pretty obvious when I disable Cat AI and my FPS drops considerably. It does seem like the engine scales really terribly to higher resolutions though (talking 2560x1600 here). I get better FPS is just about everything short of Crysis than I do in WoW.

Might be a while for true dual core but there's a rumour that the 5870X2 will be two dies on the same package ala C2Qs and Pentium-Ds.

Nearly all 4870X2s already have black PCBs.
