unfortunately, this mobo doesn't support s3 standby; hibernate resumes pretty quickly though. power usage is only 98w at idle with this combo, an x850xt and wd 36gb raptor. decodes all the 1080p mkvs ive got, peaking at about 50%. all in all, i'm impressed  .
today only. see here:

i heard the deal yesterday came with the retail box processor, so there's hope for this one.
i have an xp-90 i'm using on my skt 478 p4, is there a conversion kit for skt 478 -> lga 775? i seem to recall my friend bought one once, and from fry's to boot.
the beauty of the previous deal was that seagate had an additional $21 rebate on the 400gb drives making them only $78. i'm glad i bought 7 back then, because similar deals have been slow to emerge.
the old 3.0s supposedly came with a lifetime warranty. my old one had a button go bad and i never traded it in because i knew they would just give me a 4.0. i wonder if i could swing a new 3.0 now?
i would also like to know this. perhaps a linux-based file server with some type of usb "output" port that would allow other computers to recognize the server's drives as if they were just normal external drives? it has to be possible, just a matter of whether the hardware exists yet.
...back on topic...

IC7-Gs are picky as hell about ram when not used in 1:1. My ocz pc3500el would do 235 in 1:1, but wouldn't budge over 270fsb in any divider. This ram lets me go to like 280, but I'm still not convinced that my cpu is the limiting factor.
went to houston microcenter today. they seemed to be unaware of the discounted price, but i pointed them to the newsletter posted up here and they did a manual price override. came out to $270 after tax then a $50 rebate on that. so you're looking at ~$220 after tax, which aside from ati's...
just might have to make my first trip to MC for this one. afaik, this is as good as it gets for AGP users (next to the x850xt pe, which isn't that much better).
bought some and threw it in my ic7-g. got past the ~270fsb brickwall i was getting with my expensive ocz ch-5 ram. no asyc issues here, running stable at 280fsb now... will push later.
like pci-e people need another deal  . seriously though, since that agp "refurb" x850xt pe on ati's site, there has been nothing good for us agp users.
My experience with CH-5:
2-3-2-5 was tightest at any speed. Loosening timings did not allow higher overclocking.
Max O/C
1:1 235fsb ddr470 2-3-2-5
5:4 265fsb ddr424 2-3-2-5
3:2 265fsb ddr353 2-3-2-5
CH-5 ram will not run up to spec in asynchronous mode. I have read many forum posts...
