the GPS loophole doesn't exist here. it's all part of distracted driving. doesn't matter what you're doing on your phone, it's 5 points. 5 points for looking up directions, texting, changing songs, whatever
because it's ok when someone takes their eyes off the road and causes an accident? driving is a serious responsibility and it totally appropriate for the penalties to be serious as well. it isn't like the government is taking away some natural right.
in NY, the penalty is 5 points on your...
i think it's pretty likely that, at this point in time, it's not technologically possible to offer true unlimited service to every device. i just hope that, by giving up unlimited data right now, we're not creating a situation where this can never change. once true 4g takes hold and data is...
i just don't understand the handling of this whole situation. the guy made some bad moves, people complained, and he actually took them back. what most companies do and what most people advocate is to stay the course no matter what, because the idea that a company could make a mistake is...
I don't think that's really true. Functionally, as long as the programming is good, electronic should be better than mechanical, as well as cheaper and easier to set up. Cruise control and especially traction control is much easier to set up with electronic throttle control. I know you could...
dual channel won't work with 2 different size memory chips. sometimes it doesn't work with equal sized but different density memory chips.
sometimes "on board" means soldered ram chips and sometimes it just means ram chips that are in a less convenient place. i know my latitude d630 has one...
up until now, my firm has been joining computers to the domain, which creates the computer object for you. we'd like to change this to pre-creating the computer object so the object can be moved into the correct security group before the computer joins the domain. i tried to create the...
thanks for the advice. i'll give it a shot and see how things go.
i'm not really sure what happened with evms. i'm also confused as to why no one else has come up with a replacement, as i can't imagine there's no demand for a convenient raid management interface
yes, compatibility volume is what i meant. i don't need evms, i just liked the ncurses interface over the straight command line of mdadm. the idea of a compatibility volume is that in case evms ever went away, i should be able to use other tools to make the array work.
ok, so i've done something really stupid - i've broken the golden rule that 'raid is not a backup'. i have an 8 drive raid5 volume on an ubuntu server running evms (the raid5 is a legacy volume, not an evms volume, but i use evms for management). the os drive (not one of the 8 drives) failed...
the limitation isn't really with the version of windows - it's with the type of partition the array uses. traditionally, drives have used MBR, but that has a 2tb limit. windows server and vista allows you to use GPT instead of MBR, and GPT doesn't have this limit
i'm trying to read the contents of a directory into an array, but i'm not sure how to deal with subdirectories that have spaces.
the code i've got is like this:
for dir in `ls /vmstorage/`
do
list[count]=$dir
echo "$count: $dir"
count=$((count+1))
done
if the subdirectory has...

doing that will usually produce the first image, as paint seeps past soft edges in fonts. it's probably easier to invert colors, then change hue by color selection (select by color white, use brightness controls to fade it down to the proper gray)
even if it was possible, having your cpu at 100% while in your backpack will burn up your laptop very fast. a backpack offers no ventilation and a processor at full load puts out a ton of heat
is this true even in cases of fraud? if you bought the psu based on the sli certification, and the implied level of performance and quality it brings, does ultra really not owe you anything? this isn't "misleading marketing speak" - the product boasts credentials it doesn't have
not everyone has desk space to support a 30" monitor. this screen is almost definately 2 widescreen 19" monitors side by side, as a 19" wide is 1440x900. although it would take up a lot of width on the desk, it wouldn't be nearly as tall as a 30".
it was actually deep cycle car batteries that i had in mind, so that part may not be a problem. i can swing 2, but 4 would be cost and space prohibitive, so if possible i'd rather use the 2 for both ups. the ups that i have is fan cooled so i don't think inverter runtime would be an issue, and...
i have 2 smartups 1400 and the battery has failed in one of them. i was thinking of replacing the factory battery with sealed gel cell car batteries (so the gas isn't vented into my room) to gain additional capacity. it occurred to me that i might be able to hook the batteries (it takes 2, in...
wireless is an eventual goal, but i'm looking for a wired solution for now. getting ethernet to the table was not difficult. there are little doors in the middle of the table with ports being fed by a pair of gigabit switches mounted under the table. the issue is the "last mile". we're...
i'm trying to find a good retractable network cable that will work well in a business environment. my company has tried out a few different ones, but find that they break easily or don't work well at gigabit speeds. the ones that are not twisted pair will have trouble with interference at high...
probably a stupid question, but if you're using a vga cable, you ran the auto alignment with a full page of text right?
also, just wanted to make sure you're running the native resolution of the monitor
if you have the lid closed when you turn on the laptop, the display should go right to the external monitor. if you've got it open, you might need to hit fn+f8 to switch. in windows, it might be a driver option (to enable external display or clone mode)
i've got a d620 and one thing that i love about latitudes is their dock. this may be a complete non-issue with you, but i use my laptop as my desktop as well, and have it connected to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse (as well as other peripherals on my desk).
just recently i got a d/dock on ebay...
front game port?
front ps2 port?!
not such a terrible case, but it's been a long time since i've seen a front game port and i've never seen a front ps2 port before
so here she is, sitting on the rack and showing off her sexy self. sorry for the slightly odd lighting and shadows, but i have to go to class and don't have time to set up well distributed lighting for a better shot. i'll have more pics soon to detail how i mounted everything and the other...
