    27" iMac displayport Input

Sorry to revive a dead-ish thread, but just in case anyone is curious (or searches for this at a later date), I just upgraded my gaming PC equipped with an EVGA GTX 780 and it worked great (after I found my displayport -> mini displayport adapter).

iMac displayport input and modern gaming cards

Hey folks, Rather than revive this thread: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1039781803 ... is anyone by chance using a modern gaming card 780/7990/etc with the old 2010-ish iMacs with displayport input? Thanks, Mike

    27" iMac displayport Input

Is anyone talking about these guys yet? http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/02/amd-makes-eyefinity-easier-with-line-of-budget-minded-active-dis/ I have no idea if this applies at all (particularly to non-ati/non-eyefinity cards), or if it's of no help whatsoever. Leaving it to you smarter...

    Speaker and Headphone Rigs Discussion

Thanks folks! @Zink: eBay rules supreme. They weren't the cheapest things ever (Though a bargain at $20/ea if you ask me), but I just searched until I found someone selling more than qty 1 of the same stand (so I'd get a matching pair without much trouble on my end).

Thanks for the reaction! :) They're from 17" G5 iMacs... picked them up on ebay. I chopped the tops, drilled and tapped, and mounted hardware store aluminum flat stock. The speakers are held on with 3m command double stick tape.

Mic problem with Auzentech X-FI Prelude 7.1

So the headset with the boom mic still wasn't loud enough... I gave up and put the little onboard sound card in (maximus formula) and used the mic input from there. It allowed me a 30+ mic boost and I can practically whisper into my zalman clip on mic at chest level and it's loud and clear...

Mic problem with Auzentech X-FI Prelude 7.1

Are you using a desktop/clip-on mic? I have this problem with the prelude and vista 64 using a zalman clip-on. But when I hold the mic to my mouth it's perfectly loud. I'm planning on frankensteining the mic off a headset on to my cans to get the mic close to my mouth, but I just got the...

Hooking up a Sub to 2ch amp

Yes, you can pass through to the sub via speaker-level in/outs (assuming it's a typical standalone subwoofer with plate amp). This thread also touches on the topic: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1288939

Amp suggestions in the ~$1000 range?

Doesn't that mean that the $61 shipping price doesn't apply to you? Continental US = Contiguous 48, I believe. Hopefully I'm misunderstanding. -mike

    Budget 2.1 setup

Keep in mind if you do that, you will either have to control volume at your source (PC?), or adjust the t-amp knob AND the sub gain. Alternatively, you can use the speaker level in/out on the sub and pass through to the bookshelf speakers, which may or may not meet your SQ requirements.

    swan m10 question

Sure thing, it's pretty bare bones. Beware the crappy photo, just blind fired behind the speaker :) http://ironvulva.com/temp/d1080mkii_back.jpg Not sure I want to sell them, I might pull the plate amp and throw in some crossovers and try them that way, but I'll let you know if I come to a...

    swan m10 question

Slight off-topic (D1080MKII): While I can't complain *too much* as I scored them for $79.99 new at Newegg during the swans closeout, mine have a significant amount of idle noise. Like a buzz/hum. It's relatively quiet, but if your environment is quiet and your listening material is at a very...

    Weighted Companion Cube case

Truth be told, I got myself very distracted with a few new toys and months of very long, very painful days at work (which makes new toys a lot more interesting than weekend labor). Everything is still set up on my workbench though, so I can't actually touch another project until this one is...

Modders: where do you buy plexiglass/lexan/etc?

If you are trying to achieve an opaque color, there is nothing wrong with back-painting clear. It ends up looking like an extremely glossy paintjob. Transparent/smoke/frosted etc is another story. Example: http://www.ironvulva.com/g/albums/leon/25_G.sized.jpg More here...

Need fairly high end headphone recommendations - up to $500

Hrm, I don't personally consider the D1080MKIIs to be bassy at all. I paired mine with a 10" sub to fill the low-end. Sounds right ^^

    Dell 3008WFP vs Gateway XHD3000

Haven't found a topic that specifically pits these two monitors against each other... So which 30" would you choose, and why? Gaming, photo/video editing, and movie viewing are the highest priorities for me, personally, and I'm liking the idea of the S-IPS panel and the contrast ratio on...

Hey folks! I didn't jump in the incinerator with it after all, but I did get *especially* busy during the Holidays and experienced a bit of fallout right after. :D Little saturday update! Whipped up another sled/template to get the huge stack of mid-corner pieces routed. About a half hour later they were all processed. The small size of these parts make them a bit tricky to clamp up, so I'm using a set of Jet corner clamps (usually used...

Cutting straight cuts in plexi or acrylic...made easy

Gotcha, I wasn't criticizing, just curious. Table saws can require a lot of maintenance, fine tuning, and a clean/sharp blade. But when the conditions are right, they are totally worth the trouble :) Glad to hear this worked out for you, and hell, a $55 tile saw is a heck of a lot cheaper...
