Honestly i've never tried that before, sounds good though. I'll look into it. Is there a downside to just converting it to a dynamic disk though? Thanks!
Backup data is sitting on the partition. We would need to stop backups for the duration of the data move which would be too long I believe. Has anyone run into issues with dynamic disks?
Hey guys, wanted to get your opinion here of the best route to go.
I have a 30TB Disk attached to a server, there is a 15TB partition at the of the disk and 15TB of free space at the start of the disk. Do to the way the partition tables work you cant expand a partition backwards on a disk, so...
Interested in what setting it was for sure.
I've seen other performance issues as a result of the power management settings, wonder which memory setting it was.

Congrats on the VCA, another thing to note about the VCP is you can take the test BEFORE the class if you would like, but you need both a passing score on the test and classroom attendance to receive certification.
If this helps at all you could study up for the test and take it, then if you...

If this is a new build out and you still have the option I'd switch to the vCSA.
How many VM's are in your environment? 8 vCPU's seems excessive and probably is detrimental if you are significantly oversubscribed on your physical cpu cores.
How much memory is allocated? Are there any limits, share changes or resource pools are that in play here?
Me keeps backups, separate VC and Database servers.
Very worst case scenario, I build out a quick normal switch, attach vcenter to it, power it on then move it back. Better than wasting 10GBE NIC ports.
Additionally I'm completely dependent on vCenter with vCloud Director anyway, all the...
Percentage reservation is the way to go assuming you have homogenous hosts within the cluster.
For N+1 it's simple math
If you have 3 hosts set it for 34%
If you have 4 hosts set it for 26%
If you have 5 hosts set it for 21%
Etc
The Clustering Deepdive book is amazing though, definitely read...
Yea we'll need some detailed networking info to figure out what. Sounds like vlans aren't trunked properly on a switch.
Can you call VMwares Global Support Services? Not sure if you want to post all that info here
If you log into vCloud and click the Administration Tab then down to Public Addresses. Is this correct for a domain or subdomain pointed at a public IP mapped to your vCloud cell?
Provider VDC (Virtual Data Center) = The cluster or resource pool providing resources to vCloud
Org VDC (Virtual Data Center) = A segmentation of the resources for one Organization.
It could be that you do not have enough networks allocated to your Org VDC to create an isolated network. The guy...
Were you not the one who installed vCloud Director? Maybe you could involve that person and see what they can find. The issue can vary depending on the type of network isolation used.
Not as far as i know, in order to be able to create Orgs and Org VDC's you need to have global administrator privileges, you'd have to give them access to everything.
Did you push the turbo button? haha
Strange, i've never seen this, the only thing i can think of is something was initially delayed and then the GUI representation is catching up as what you're seeing.
Dell should have been able to explain all of this to you prior to the purchase.
KVM modules are so you can control the blades using a keyboard monitor and mouse. If you plug into the KVM module you can use the panel on the front of the chassis to tab through each blade.
I prefer just using the...
If there's a VPN in place then mappings will stay, i don't understand the problem?
If you are on a 192.168.1.0/24 network and have a mapped drive to \\192.168.1.10\share\ then you take your laptop to a 192.168.2.0/24 network why cant you still access \\192.168.1.10\share\ if there is a site to...
Delete all when your done is the way to go.
