All I can say is I have no problems with audio when running a ReplayGain scan in fb2k. Tried kernel streaming? Should be the same path but you never know.
Does the analogue out work? Is the optical out the default device in Windows sound playback properties? Does the same menu show activity on the optical out (it's got a meter on the right I think)?
I've only used the analogue outs myself so hopefully someone with more experience will chime in.
I used to get that with my old Audigy 2 but not with the new card. Did you make sure the old drivers were completely removed before installing the new ones?
Since you're using optical out you won't gain anything from the better components in the card, or from reduced interference. You would see slightly lower CPU usage due to effects being processed in hardware but other than that, probably not much advantage.
I've always thought about doing that with the Logitech but I presume there's a fair amount of electronics in the base, so it wouldn't work. I might have to take it apart and find out at some point. :)
I use that Logitech too. Works fine in L4D2 sitting on my desk with the mic about a foot away from my mouth.
Like you I tried the Zalman mic, but its sensitivity was ridiculously low. I have heard from people that found it good though, so maybe the quality varies a lot.
Well, I guess it has to be the way it outputs then, if anything.
Thanks for the heads up on the scanning. I started a disk check on my music drive so it couldn't access it on startup. :D I'm listening to some Miles Davis (FLAC) now through JRMC. This is on my main computer though. The one I...
Pick a song where you hear a difference, use the disk writer output for JRMC and the convert option in foobar to produce two wav files. You'd then import them into Audacity and...basically follow this:

A simpler test may be to...
You may well be right but the ear is often easy to fool, that's why I suggested looking at it in an audio editor. It would rule out some possibilities.
All sound is played from RAM so I'm not sure what the blogs you've been looking at are getting at. WASAPI support I don't know about. Can't...
I can't imagine why you'd be hearing a difference unless JRMC is altering the sound somehow. Can JRMC output a wav file so you could compare the output in Audacity or similar?
This probably isn't the best place to discuss it though, as it's a bit off the topic of the thread. :D
That may well explain it. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come with the beta drivers (I couldn't find it, looking through the exe). Try looking on the disc to see if it has a separate installer, or maybe try Creative AutoUpdate?
I'm very happy with my Logitech Driving Force GT. The only thing is it can be a bit noisy, especially with the force feedback on full, but even when not. It performs very well though.
In the Creative Audio Control Panel, try selecting Dolby Digital Live if it isn't already, found in the Encoder tab. I'm assuming you installed the Dolby and DTS codecs from the CD?
What content are you trying to get surround sound from?
The op-amps won't make any difference to the optical out, they're completely bypassed. You'll need to enable Dolby Digital Live or DTS Connect for surround sound.
That's a bit of a shame then. Personally I find the card more than loud enough (nobody mention the mic xD) but then, I'm using rather easy to drive phones on the computer (Sennheiser HD497). I was thinking of upgrading them at some point though.
I should try my AKG K701s and see how the card...
I'm trying to make my system quieter so I was thinking about running my 3 case fans at 7V using the "7V trick". Should I be worried about what this could do to my PSU? Is there anything else to be wary of?
I've got 1x 120mm (rear) and 2x 92mm (front), both Nexus, running off a Seasonic X-650...
Thanks, I'm aware of that issue but it's not just Source games that it occurs in (voice_forcemicrecord "0" is supposed to fix that anyway). It's all recording software and microphone tests too. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I read that that simply enables a hardware feature that...
I guess it must be a software issue my side then. I'll fiddle around a bit. Thanks.
This is on Windows 7 x64 with microphone levels at max FWIW.
edit: well, at some point I got a decentish volume level out of the test in the Creative Audio Control Panel, but nowhere else. After more...
I'm trying to use this mic with the card but it's so quiet as to be almost unusable in L4D2. I'm really baffled as to how it can be considered a good combo. With my last card I could turn mic boost on but there is no such option with the Titanium HD. I'm rather disappointed.
Thanks. The only place I could put a sub would be on or under the desk and there's really not a lot of room under it. It would also be very enclosed (don't know if that's a problem).
It's basically a 10ftx10ft space with probably more furniture in it than there should be. x)
Cue less than...
I'm looking to get some speakers for music listening in my bedroom. I've got around £1000 set aside but I'd like to err on the side of less rather than more.
Space is limited so it's going to have to be bookshelf speakers and the only place I can put them is a 25x120cm monitor shelf on my...
I'm not sure if I'm pointing out the obvious here but it looks like you may be getting a lot of memory errors on the card, which is causing it to perform more slowly.
