I'm tempted to buy an Acer c720 (sadly can only get the 2GB version as I'm in the UK) and stick Ubuntu on it as a replacement for my clunky 2008 era Dell Vostro.
I've found a refurb unit for £140 which I would love to stick a 128GB SSD into. However I'm wondering if it's worth waiting for the...
Funnily enough, it has only happened once in the past week of using it in the problem house (same wall outlet as before). So perhaps the issue with the mains was only exacerbated in December for whatever reason. The interesting thing is that it's just the graphics card that seems to crash, not...
Line conditioners all seem to be made to provide multiple outlets (i.e. for server rooms I guess) so the ones I found seem to be more expensive than personal UPSs.
I live in the UK and currently move my PC between 2 houses, one in London and one in Oxford.
When I am in London my graphics card is subject to random crashes, but when I am in Oxford the PC has absolutely no problems whatsoever. The only thing that is different in the two setups is the house...
I live in the UK and currently move my PC between 2 houses, one in London and one in Oxford. During my last stay in London my screen would randomly go black for a couple of seconds, followed by the image returning with the message "Nvidia display driver stopped working and recovered". It kept...
I'm thinking of making a new aluminium front panel for my case much like yours. I'm most worried about getting the cuts straight and using a router as you have seems to be the way to go. Could you give more details on the router you used and the bits? Would a dremel with the router attachment...
The GeForce 310m is rated as a class 3 card on notebookcheck but would it be ok for TF2?
Im thinking of a Dell Vostro with the following:
Processor : I5-430M (2.26GHz)
Memory: 3072MB (1x2048 + 1x1024) 1333MHz DDR3
Graphics : NVIDIA® Geforce™ 310M, 512MB Graphics
For £644 with Win 7 Pro...
Firstly, I'm in the UK.
Now, I need a laptop that is not too bulky but that can manage TF2 nice and smoothly. I wouldn't want the price to be much above £500, but the cheaper the better obviously.
Does this exist. Ive seen alot of conflicting things being said about what could and couldn't run...
Well, I just found this: OCZ OCZ3X16002GK PC3-12800 Which would come to £60 for 4 GB if I bought 2 sets.
But am I correctly assuming that the fact they have been "Optimized for the Intel X38/X48 chipset" dosnt mean all that much, and that therefore there will be no problems slotting them into...
I am building a new office machine which I would like to stick windows 7 onto. I also have an old Dell which came with windows XP on it. Can I use the XP key from that in order to use the windows 7 upgrade version?
Fellow UK based [H] goers, I need youre help in finding me 4GB of cheap DDR3 to chuck into a new budget build based on an Athlon II X2 250.
So far the chepest I've found is OCZ Gold (2x2GB) at overclockers.co.uk
unfortunately they didnt have them at the UK version of digi key but i did find them here. It is however too expensive at over £5 for a pack of 5.
At least I know what to search for now though.
Does a 4 pin female molex connector exist that can be soldered onto a PCB. It would make my PCB for a circuit being powered by my PSU alot neater! But I have no idea where to find one if it exists.
Check my ageing rig in my sig. Is it worth perhaps upgradeing to 8GB instead of just 4GB or should I simply upgrade my mobo/cpu sooner and get DDR3 when I do so.
well, as can be seen from my sig, i'm still rocking an 8800 gts - YEH!
I'm mightily tempted by the 5850 and i would buy it straight off, however im still weighing up if its worth buying it now since im gonna be away over december, january and february, so perhaps i should upgrade then.
I just go for the nicest looking ones regardless of material. It just so happens that the nicer looking ones are made out of aluminium most of the time.
yeh probably would've looked nicer if there was a way of mounting form the inside. But you should still change the crews maybe to some countersunk flat headed screws (or w/e they're called) - imo the current ones are ugly. Otherwise it looks REALLY nice and REALLY sleek.
ok thanks, useful info. But when you say jobs which a jigsaw is more appropriate, what kind of jobs? Should i just get a jigsaw instead of the dremel if im pretty much only gonna be cutting straight lines?
EDIT: ok i just saw this: http://video.yahoo.com/watch/1216205/5347311
This looks...
As someone planning to do some first time case modding in a few months time, I'd like to ask you how easy it is to cut straight lines with a dremel? That is my greatest fear for when I start doing my own mods - being unable to cut straight and ending up with a horrible botch job. Are there any...
ok, but how are the original standoffs actually attached to the panel - are they glued?
I only ask because i want to make a scratch built aluminium cube and i want to figure out how to attach a fan or window to a panel without having screws on the outside.
