I use the system for Blu ray playback, I had previously used it to store and host / playback all of my DVD rip collection across my home network. I recently purchased a WD MyCloud Mirror that is now housing that data (even is running as a plex server).
I'm running Kodi on it and trying to fine...
Hey all, I built my htpc maybe 4-5 years ago and it's still a solid machine that I've only upgraded the graphics card once to an hd 6850 so that I could do some mild gaming on. I've been doing some testing with Steam in home streaming and have found that by using a Phenom x4 940 Black @ 3.0ghz...
I think I've found that if the temp of the gpu stays under that 55c barrier then it will not down-clock to the 500 Mhz clock I was seeing in furmark. I think re-pasting and removing some dust on my intake fans on my case helped a little bit as I played some tonight on it and it was stable enough...
Well I pulled the card, dusted, re-pasted. Installed the card in a separate pc to isolate from software issues. Found that after the card heated up to 55c or so it throttled back from 850 core. So essentially it seems to be a hardware failure. There are some portions of the PCB that are not blue...
I'm not sure if there is anything that I can do to fix any of those issues, and I'm guessing that would mean the card is near end of life.
I dumped my vbios using GPU-Z yesterday, and saw that there are like 4 clock speed settings in the performance profile. There is the 300, a 500, the 850...
Well I didn't end up moving the vbios switch, I went through uninstalling the driver 15.5 and found that 14.12 was still around. So I ran driversweeper, followed by CCleaner and finally reinstalled 15.5. So my clocks are restoring properly. But it seems that my card is now having problems...
I did try testing it with afterburner off, used gpuz to display max clocks and it showed the same values. I also Uninstalled trixx to make sure it didn't interfere. The only way I could adjust the clocks was through the driver.
Temps were reasonable. Maybe 70c max, I'll try swapping vbios to see if that fixes the downclocks. Maybe the vbios values were overwritten somehow? I would normally run trixx for my over clock and msi afterburner for on screen monitoring. And these clocks were low following a cold boot so not...
Hey guys, I have a sapphire 7950 Boost that is failing to return to it's stock clocks. Running MSI afterburner to monitor my clocks, it idles in windows at 300 Mhz core, 150 Mhz memory. But when I launch a 3d application the clocks are stuck at 460 core and 625 Mhz memory. To fix this, I have to...
Well I didn't realize that Uplay was going to incite such hate. I just wanted to put the info out there. Steam has really reduced the number of games on sale daily and haven't been that impressive and I just saw it was an option. I can understand the frustrations, I've just not experienced them...
I have been playing AC2 lately and noted the updated Uplay had a store and was advertising a winter sale. They have AC3 for 10.20, AC Brotherhood for 5 and Rayman Origins for 5.00 as well.
Here is the link to the store page:

I think that this card would be a stellar performer based on it's cooling design, and it's overclock out of the box.
I've been a big fan of ASUS quality in motherboards for years and i can see that the design of the cooling system as well as how far they are willing to push the 660 core leads...
Hey guys,
I have an HiS 6950 that I've been running with unlocked shaders without issue for some time now. Lately however when booting the system or waking the system from sleep it takes 20+ seconds for the display to actually show the desktop etc. I was thinking it might be a driver issue...
So I purchased a new motherboard from Newegg which just arrived today. I did a bench test and low and behold it booted. So long story short, the motherboard which I had returned to ASUS for repair was not repaired.
So about 4 weeks ago a nasty thunderstorm sent a surge through my phone line into my dsl router. We initially heard a sort of fizzle sound come from that area but didn't discover that the router was dead until the next morning. I replaced the router with one of the crappy 2wire routers I had...
I've only recently had my board and system up and running but I've not had any issues with the program so far and find that it has a lot of great monitoring options available in it to keep it up all the time.
I had been eyeing the Raven series and the upcoming RV03 and went with the HAF X. I had decided after upgrading to a P67 setup with a 2500k that the Antec 902 was just too small for my tastes at this time. I can say that the HAF X was the most enjoyable setup i've used in a long time and is a...
I've seen numerous threads in the Intel motherboard forums here that there are issues with the systems randomly freezing, not waking up from sleep etc. Maybe it's because there are more people vocal about the boards that don't work than the people who haven't had issues.
Some quick ones off the top of my head are resident evil 5, final fantasy XIV, 3dmark vantage of course (free now). There are some others I can think of like metro 2033 but it requires the game be installed.
What's the main difference between like the 65, 53, and the 45? I had considered the 45 and the 53 due to their lower price but the 65 got such a good review here on the site that I was concerned I'd be losing the ability to over clock like the 65 if i went for the lower number boards.
Thanks for the suggestion, only downside I think is the motherboard itself just won't give me much over clocking headroom. I know the E6750 can do a higher overclock than 3.0 ghz, but to get there I have to bump the voltage up on the board and it creates too much heat on the southbridge that the...
Sycraft, that's some great information and that verifies my suspicions that i'm cpu bound. Now if I can find a decent P67 board to go with a SB. Is the advantage of cache and hyperthreading of 2600k a value in this case or would a overclocked 2500k be plenty?
Yah I wanted to avoid further upgrades for my 775 setups, the 680i A8N32-E SLI SPP runs really hot. I've been on the fence about SB but I definitely want a quad core minimum. I think the main reason I see such better FPS in rift on the Q9550 is because it is clocked where it is. I would think a...
So I've been playing Rift, and surprisingly this game is really punishing on my systems. When playing it on my Q9550 + HD 6950 (flashed 6970) i get solid frame rates with little to no dips. But unfortunately my wife doesn't prefer that I play in my bedroom for too long because my kids tend to...
