History is written by the victors. Based on this concept, either you decide to dig deeper and study the philosophy of history, or you don't.
In recent science history, Edison is a household name and Tesla is way lesser known.
The average person likely doesn't have a true understanding of...
After some time researching these 1.33TB platter SMR drives, I decided to take a pass. Seems like rewriting sectors starts to ask for trouble that I don't need. The price is this low probably to entice guinea pigs. Think instead I will wait for helium-based drives to drop in price and stick with...
The problem with Microsoft has always been: fear of taking chances, playing copycat with tired trends, a confusing diversification of their product line, milking their user base for the smallest of revenue, and not giving users what they want. Therefore, this is either a last gasp to stave off...
Except tons of small random data requests could bog down the controller, so it's not just about the speed of large sequentials. Though I would only upgrade if you are a big multitasker.
All Seagate GoFlex drives at Newegg are listed as a 2-year warranty. So buying that drive at the Egg with the extra year warranty would give you three years. GoFlex drives on Staples.com are also listed as 2-year warranties.
Meanwhile the Seagate Expansion externals are listed as having only...
You also have the double protection of the credit card, some are better than others. And it's usually 90 days.
I'm still waiting for these monitors to reach their pricing bottom before taking the leap. :)
I wouldn't be surprised if subsidies were at work here. The price will likely continue to drop less steadily, as there are a glut of sellers trying to remain competitive. I decided to wait and am in no rush. :)
I agree. Anyway, the Vertex 4 fails hard at Vantage. The Plextor M3P and M3S dominate with almost double the HDD suite at 80K. Looks decent otherwise.
As for OCZ's customer service, they work on the squeaky wheel principle. You want legit great RMA service, try Corsair. They even go the extra...
True about the price drops. I would almost take a chance on the SanDisk based on price alone. I was curious about Sandisk's 24nm Toggle NAND, but that's another can-of-worms. Also, so far no reports of BSOD, detection failures like those for the Sandisk Ultra.
I would get rid of the Sandforce driven Intel 520 (for the time being) and add the Corsair Performance Pro instead. The Intel 510 also isn't a bad drive. Otherwise perfect list. :)
Here's another IPS with LED backlight on Alibaba. It's listed as model number LJ-270M with DVI, 2 HDMI, Displayport, and audio for $94-$124 per 1000.

Those are some very nice numbers. Do you have any AS SSD or Crystal benches RAID vs. single?
EDIT: BTW here's an actual Sandisk Extreme 120GB review

I have to give credit for Sandisk creating a big buzz on such a new product. And unlike Intel, they are passing the savings of using their own NAND onto consumers. But the policy of their not updating their firmware is a big no sale for me, especially while they're using the Sandforce SF-2281.
Can anyone with a Catleap Q270 SE confirm the highest refresh rate on a Z68 Express Chipset with Intel HD3000 integrated graphics? I know it supports 2560 x 1600, but am not so sure if the RAMDAC has the bandwidth for 97Hz. I use my computer mostly for work, browsing and some tv/movies.
I agree with your entire list, nice match of speed and reliability. I have the Samsung 830 and Plextor M3 and they both rock. I imagine the Plextor will get better as it matures.
I checked last night (just before the code was reactivated) and they only had 14 left in inventory. The Plextor M3 is also a nice drive with a 5-year warranty using 24nm Toggle NAND.
Thanks for the information. These look really great for the money. Do you know if the nicer pen is functionally better, or is it just a cosmetic difference? I mostly do circuit boards, and rarely anything heavier. The 40-yr old Weller I inherited from my grandpa bit the dust last night. :(
If anyone's curious, here are the Dell Premier prices on the U2412, U2410 and others.
U3011 $942.38
U2711 $563.86
U2412 $213.58
U2410 $403.52
U2312 $174.08
U2311 $166.89
I said that my pricepoint was $250 and gave info on how it was almost a match. Though somehow you think you're in a position to give orders. Two weeks ago, the U2412M was selling for $170AC from Dell.
If you are smart, you place an alert on Slickdeals for the monitor or you can pay $299+ for...
Another vote for the Chronos Deluxe, which has 32nm Toggle NAND vs. 25nm asynch for the Patriot Pyro. The Chronos will also have better longevity. If you are going Sandforce, might as well get the best.
