I actually bought it for $120.96 + tax in Canada:

Direct Canada is selling it for $120.96. I did a price match at NCIX.com.
If you don't hear any popping or cracking on your X-Fi Platinum, I won't recommend upgrade to X-Fi Titanium unless you need optical input/output or Dolby Digital Live.
Considering X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro PCI-E also got EMI shield and real-time Dolby Digital Live encoding via optical output and the price is about right $120 street price, it is definitely a nice upgrade even for X-Fi Xtremegamer Fatality Pro PCI.
Also the review showed X-Fi Titanium PCI-E...
After you guys' recommendation, I just bought X-Fi Titanium PCI-E for Windows Vista running BF2142, and so far no more cracking and popping sounds especially when artillery firing. Very good!
Ok, now Creative came out with X-Fi Titanium PCI-Express, which supposedly should fix the cracking and popping issues with Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2132 since Creative technical support said the probelm with X-Fi and Battlefield series lied in PCI bus. Now the new audio card is using PCI-E...
Some benchmark showed that in AoC, 4870 doesn't perform as well as 280 comparing to in CoD4 4870 vs 280.
I am hoping that my next video card would get me a gain of 15-20 fps at 1920x1200 with 4xAA.
I wasn't trying to criticize him or anything. My system is 2-3 years old, so I am trying to figure out what kind of gain I would get if switch to 4870 or 280 playing AoC.
He is using the same monitor I am using. Just that the pic location he took is a generally high framerate area.
use Ctril+Alt+F to turn on framerate monitor if I remember correctly in AoC.
In the AoC, when High settings are on, the AA, Shadows, reflection and viewing distances are not necessary to Max.
Don't know if u ever been to a location called Carnibell's Cave. Inside, my framerates dropped to...
All settings to High doesn't mean all to Max. What did u set for AA, AF, shadows, and viewing distances (quality and otherwise), water reflections?
The map you are in tends to have higher framerate. I am getting 30-50 framerates in that map.
Let see if u can get same framerate in Old...
LOL, yeah, medium setting looks than FarCry. Just I saw the visual differences between Medium and High (not Very High) settings are too great.
Currently, with my sig system, I can play Crysis on High settings at 1920x1200 no AA => 25fps on XP. I tried Medium settings to increase a few...
No, who?
When I told my wife about my Eurika idea of a cola drink with added gingsing and more caffeine, couple minutes later Pepsi came out with the commercial about Pepsi gingsing with more caffeine.
Actually prices wise, GTX200 cards are about the same or even cheaper than the introductory prices of 7800GTX, 7900GTX, and 8800GTX few years back.
I bought 7800GT at $450 a piece.
My brother bought his 7800GTX 512MB for $750 on sale.
My 8800 Ultra first came out is $800, I got it for $720...
Actually from ExPreview.com's benchmarks, 4870 beats 260 in the ratio 2:1. 4870 beats 260 in every games they tested except F.E.A.R. : Perseus Mandate and Lost Planet, which are inconsequential because hardly anyone plays them anyway.
4870 scales better than 260/280 when AA is on and at...
Even though 4850x2 CF is cheaper and faster than a single 4870, CF and SLI still have problems, so I would stay away from them. If you want a carefree system, get a single GPU card for now.
From the reviews that I have seen, 4870 can't beat 280. At best, it could tie with 280 at 1920x120 with 8xAA 16xAF running Enemy Territories - Quake Wars. For less than half of price of 280, 4870 is awesome.
I would wait for 4870 1GB DDR5.
Don't get 30" 2560x1600 monitor to play game. The performance hit is too great even for GTX280.
If you really want a big monitor to play game with, get those HDTV >37" 1920x1080.
24" is the current norm for new PC purchasers. Besides we are looking at benchmarks of high-end video cards offered by ATI and nVidia, naturally a $400 24" 1920x1200 LCD monitor is the standard.
Just look at the benchmark system, he is using QX9770, a $1500 CPU. Is that a majority?
It would be great if you have a 280 running on the same system for base line and add a common widescreen 24" resolution 1920x1200.
The crossfire benchmark results look very dispointing especially in World in Conflict, at 1600x1200 CF actually has lower framerate.
Thank you for bringing your benchmark stats to us, but I found those benchmarks are pointless because:
1. benchmark resolution 1280x1024 are 1600x1200 are too low for today's systems. At these resolutions, they tended to be CPU bound.
2. Your CPU QX9770 at 4.0Ghz to too much for normal...
4870 is simply a great achievement by ATI, 1/2 price of 280 and 90% performance of 280 at 1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF, but mind you though, 4870 looks like a OC card with clock speed over 700Mhz and core temperature reaching 100C. At 1920x1200 8xAA 16xAF, 4870 could actually tie or exceed 280. I wonder...
I just double checked regarding AA on Age of Conan.
When I turned off AA, in the character selection menu, my Stygian character's hair and the Stygian flag pole, massive and ugly jagged edges all around. Unbearable.
At 2xAA, jagged edges were still noticable, but not as bad as AA off.
At...
Are u kidding? Your ToS can take on elite mob (not even elite boss) solo in Sanctum? What did u use? combined AoE Storm Field and Storm Crown plus active blocking?
Let's just say AoC used to be too easy and people advanced level too quickly. Now after June 23rd patch, it is getting a little more difficult, but the fighter and rogue classes can still own a few mobs above their level.
The only challenge for fighter classes are the elite mobs.
Last...
I know what you mean about 7800. I used to have 7800GT on this sig system. Then I added another 7800GT for SLI. Later swapped to 8800 Ultra beating 7800GT SLI hand down.
I saw those jagged edges on character menu the very first time that I ran AoC. Ever since I turned on the 4xAA. Since my frame rates are not that good in big city like Old Tarantia 14-30fps with max distance and shadows max, I will try AoC with 2xAA or no AA later.
My monitor is 24" 1920x1200 LCD. So naturally I would try to run every game at default resolution.
Crysis' cheesy story line about North Koreans in South Asia that is fantasy. They can't even make it out of their own Korean penisula. Use Communist Chinese is more appropriate. But then...
I normally run the game without AA on first, if jagged edges bothers me too much, then I would turn AA on, at least to 2xAA. My sig system is not a fast system, so I am in no position to let my framerate drop unless really need it.
Too bad you can't run AoC anymore. Without AA on, even at the...
