Not sure if this post is really on topic in this thread, but I'll throw you a bone... First off, I question why you are even using the parts from the slimline, since in essence, you are doing a fresh build. The only parts you seem to be using are cpu/hd/dvd/mem, none of which are slimline...

Few updates, relevant to video card/power supply upgrades: I installed the new power supply, along with the galaxy 9600GT. Details of power supply can be found in previous posts. Everything is working well. The new power supply is very quiet. The fit was pretty good, as can be seen in...

Mischief - Many power supply suggestions are listed in the last few pages. DrP - No lockups. It actually performed well, but always had driver issues. Mainly image shifts and resolutions not working. Couldnt figure it out, so threw in the towel.

Mischief - The 9500GT(or at least the xfx version) comes with a low profile bracket. As with most LP cards, you need to remove the vga port from the card and use a bracket that has just s-video and dvi ports. Also keep in mind that most cards including the 9500gt come in both a low...

360 - Trust me, Im not a newb. I tried everything with the xfx card. Regarding the 2 cards, plan is to try the 8500 and if it performs fine, I'll prob stick with it. Then again, I already have a power supply ready to go(detailed in my previous posts), so if I decide to go the 9600gt...

Im a little upset with myself for throwing in the towel on my xfx card, but I'll add my $.02 to TestShoot's post: Ive been trying to configure my 9500gt for about a week. Tried every single driver from nvidia that supported the Geforce 9 seires(beta and regular). Each time I removed the...

Update on my current setup(160w ps, 65w 5600x2, 4gb ram, 9500gt): Ran overnight with prime, no lockups. CPU temps max at 48C. 360 - what cooler are you using on core1...some new copper? jk That app looks nice, can I find it as CPU ID Hardware Monitor?

Yet another update: Still having driver issues...cleaned and reinstalled every modern(9500gt compatible) driver and my screen is still shifted left. I wish the newer nvidia drivers allowed for display to move and reposition, but I'll keep messing with it. Im also suspecting maybe a conflict...

XFX 1gb ddr2 9500gt I think the GDDR3 version only comes in full height. I only have the windows experience scores to compare, but as soon as i figure out this driver issue, I can post the results to compare the 9500gt to the 8400gs.

Few updates on my end: Still waiting for new Power Supply(In-Win), as I thought I had a power issue. I was suspect about it being a power issue, but ordered nonetheless. Basically I upgraded stock ram to 2x2gb pc6400, and upgraded geforce8400gs to 9500gt. System would power up, but not...

Sorry for the multiple posts... I finished reading the cnet thread, and its appears that we are all pretty much on the same track. I will pursue the IN-WIN newegg power supply and report back my findings if people are interested. I plan to use the previously mentioned adapter and if that...

Hope Im not threadjacking, but I installed the 8400gs from xfx...tight fit, seemed to work ok, but my comp will lock up if its on for a significant amount of time(10-15min). No reboots, only lockups. I assume this is heat related and not power supply related(which would induce a reboot). Has...
