Update.
All of the previous posts were with BIOS 0402. I have now updated to 1053 beta. With guidance from the post by JJ (Asus rep) here. I have been able to run Win7 64bit edition at 4.8 and 4.9GHz. Basically the more voltage the more megahertz. I have PLL voltage enabled, DRM Freq...
You are basically identical to me. CPUID reports about 4.16v for me. Do you have your cpu voltage set to manual or offset mode?
I also see that under load HWMonitor is reporting 94Watts of CPU power. Intel only rates these chips to 95W, which is one reason I haven't tried to push it higher.
Would like to know the how much CPU watts you are seeing under load. My 2500K OCed to 4.7Ghz at 1.416volts is hitting 96watts when running Orthos small FFTs or IntelBurnTest stress tests.
Here are some of the UEFI BIOS
AI Tweaker
under CPU Power Management:
CPU ratio 33
Intel Speedstep enabled
Turbo mode enabled
Turbo Ratio Max Turbo Ratio setting in BIOS
Turbo ratio for each core set at 47
everything else on the page set to Auto
Load Line calibration set to Auto...
I'm afraid it's too much trouble as the 212+ has it's own retention plate that bolts to the motherboard first. I wouldn't use this factory HSF on a Core2Duo Overclock. I purchased the CM 212+ for like $16.99 on Black Friday, they are only $29.99 everyday at Microcenter.
One thing the Asus...
My old setup was a E8400 OC to 4.07Ghz on a Asus P5Q Pro mb and Corsair 2x2GB DDR2 PC8500 ram. New Setup Icore 5 2500K OC to 4.7Ghz and a Asus P8P67 mb and Mushkin Silverline 2 x 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz. ram. There might be a few people out there with a good Core2Duo wondering what kind of...
I just picked up the Microcenter bundle of a Intel iCore5 2500K and Asus P8P67 motherboard on Sunday.
I have been building computers since the 386 days and this was the first time I actually thought that I was going to break something closing the CPU socket retention device. Otherwise...
Had some issues with my P8P67 failing to post after I changed the ram from 1066 to 1333. The dram timing had numbers entered into them instead of Auto so it wasn't using SPD. This new BIOS going to take some getting used to.
I slept in today went down to the computer and started to check on the SB buzz. I had wanted to get the Asus P8P67 regular board and a 2500K. Checked prices at Newegg vs Microcenter and saw they had the same price $159.99. Found the new 2400 and 2500K iCore5 on MC website finally and seen...
To Ryokurin: Yes I tried setting the ram to 256MB for the UMA.
Latest update:
I have tried two different AMD motherboards with the AMD Phenom II Quad core using Corsair 2GB XMS3 1333Mhz DDR3 running Win7 Home Premium.:
Biostar A780L3G with 780 chipset
MSI 785GM-P45 with 785...
On my main rig, E8400 running 4Ghz and a GTX 260, I couldn't see any difference in CPU load with hardware accel turned off or on with flash video in Hulu. I'll do some experimenting with hardware accel turned off because I have plenty of CPU power on the HTPCs. I'll post my findings.
A little update.
I made sure the latest version of flash was installed 10.1.102.64.
V sync tearing issues were due to Aero being turned off.
V sync issue was because Windows 7 doesn't recognize the integrated graphics on the MSI 785GM-P45 motherboard during install and Aero was turned...
I have a hard time believing that we should be using basic Microsoft drivers dated the year 2006.
Here is my hard drive controller:
Ok, let's say that this is fine. Why is video performance worse on the AMD based HTPC?
The new Phenom II X4 based HTPC cannot play Windows...
I haven't owned a AMD based motherboard since Athlon XP1700 days. Back then on my VIA chipset boards I would install 4 in 1 drivers.
I have a MSI 785GM-P45 mATX motherboard and a X4 Phenom II. When you use the motherboard driver disk it just installs Catalyst drivers when you click on...
I have a HTPC built with Asus P5B-E (Intel 965), E4300 running 3Ghz, 2GB DDR2 and a Nvidia 7900GS PCIe video card. I am running Win7 Home Premium. I can play video from ABC, or FOX website perfectly smooth played through Firefox. For some reason playing through IE8 is slightly less smoth like...
I am building a HTPC with a MSI G31TM-P21 mATX board that doesn't have any cpu voltage adjustments.
I have the MSI G31TM-P21 up and running right now with a borrowed E2140 Pentium Dual core at the moment but the CPU vid on this chip is 1.2v because it's a 800Mhz FSB chip that only is 1.6GHz...
Well I did a reinstall of WinXP with SP3 on my P5K-VM machine and now the benchmark crashes on startup. I guess I'll have to do another reinstall with SP2 to see if it is something to do with Service Pack 3.
Jerry
It's a Windows Xp issue of some sort because the game works fine. The only thing crashing is the benchmark settings window, which is it's own app.
I can run the benchmark on my P5k-VM (G33 chipset), E7300 OC to 3.6Ghz and eVGA 8800GTS 320MB machine. That machine has an old install with...
I just installed .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 which is supposed to update 2.0 and 3.0 at the same time , but it had no effect.
It has to be something simple, since only a few people have had this problem and I have very mainstream hardware.
Jerry
I have the same problem. Just did a fresh install of Windows SP2 then upgrade to SP3 and IE7 on my new computer.
New computer:
Asus P5Q Pro (Intel P45)
eVGA GTX 260
Crucial Ballistix 2 GB ram PC800
Intel E8400
I play the game Maxed out no trouble play for hours. Try to start the...
You could just put the fan hole in the side window. I'm sure someone like Bill Owen at mnpctech would custum cut you a window with a 120mm fan already in there if you are concerned over cutting the 120mm hole yourself.
Jerry
Hi guys and gals, my name is Jerry. I have been into PCs since the 386SX days and into Overclocking PCs since 486 days. I hadn't gotten into modding cases until last year when I painted an old Inwin S500 case and added some 120mm fans. I recently was researching buying a Antec 300 case when I...
I have the P5K-VM and have ran E2140, E6300, E7300 and a E8400 on it. E21XX chips are 200fsb chips and will not run 400Mhz fsb on P965 or G33 chipsets, but will on P35 or P45 from my experience. I have ran the E8400 past 4Ghz stable on this motherboard.
For your E2160, set CPU voltage...
AMDisSWEET ,
I use Orthos CPU stress test and Intel Burn Test. With Intel Burn Test the machine would reboot at 1.3v at 4050Mhz (450Mhz x 9). So I went back to 1.35v and completed 20 passes. With room temp of 77 degrees, core temp .99 reports about 62 degrees when Intel Burn Test is...
At Jab-Tech, I can buy 4 yate-loon 120mm fans for $7.49 shipping or 8 fan for $8.10 so they aren't ripping anybody off. If you have ever shipped anything it costs a min of like $5 right off the bat adding a little extra weight doesn't add that much to the initial cost. Newegg can get...
I found your post interesting. I just bought the Newegg combo of a P5Q Pro and a E8400 along with a Antec Three Hundred case. I OC my E0 stepping E8400 to 4.2Ghz at 1.4v. I can do 1.35v at 4.05Ghz with 450Mhz bus speed. I use voltage stability or whatever it's called in the BIOS to eliminate...
I just installed a EO stepping E8400 and can run 4050Mhz @ 450Mhz bus speed with just 1.40v. This on a cheap HyperTX hsf. Vdroop on this board is around .07v so under load with Orthos CPU stress test it's like 1.33v
This board still has legs.
Jerry
I was having trouble running a E7300 9.5 x 400Mhz = 3,8Ghz so I set my multiplyer to 9 to run 3.6Ghz. I don't have ram that like 450Mhz or I would run that and a 8 multiplyer as it would yeild a little better performance.
Did anybody else receive the wrong molex to PCI-E 6 pin power adapters? Here is a picture of my adpater that was in my retail eVGA GTX 260 box.
the middle pin next to the clip with the brown wires is a square instead of a D,
I had to use one of the adapters from my 8800GTS...
Does your 4GB in that photo report only 2048 during BIOS boot page and in Windows. My P5B-E (P965 chipset) reports during Bios boot screen 3007MB with 4 1024MB sticks. Windows XP Pro reports 3MB in system properties. If I enable memory remap it reports the full 4096 during BIOS boot screen...
My P5B-E isn't very stable at around 380MHz. Try and run your P5B at 400Mhz so it moves up a strap. If you need to lower your CPU MHz try a lower CPU multiplyer if you are running a Core2. You might try and stay at 350Mhz and under and see if that helps. I under stand your running like...
How much faster would a GTX 260 be over a 9800GTX+
with the same Settings: Demo(Ranch Short), 1680x1050 (60Hz), D3D10, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(2x), VSync(No), Overall Quality(Ultra High), Vegetation(Very High), Shading(Ultra...
P5K-VM do not like 200 fsb CPUs. I coould not run a E2140 over 350Mhz either. I am running a E6300 at 450Mhz fsb though. My E2140 is running in a P5K Deluxe (P35) at 400Mhz fsb as we speak. P35 chipsets run the 200fsb CPUss at 400Mhz in most cases.
