Thanks, ordered the mobo for when I get around to upgrading my Plex Server. I’m in no hurry, so,only buying parts when an incredible deal is available. Just need to wait for the 2700x to drop to an insane level like when I got my 1700 for $250 a month or two after it’s release via eBay.
I was hoping someone was planning a review with a Ryzen + processor in an X370 mobo to give us an idea of the improvements in architecture when not using an X470 mobo.
I would imagine that the 2700 series Ryzen processors will be tested in the new x470 series mobos, but I’m curious if anyone has heard of anyone planning to test one of these next gen Ryzen in an x370 Mobo to give original adopters an idea on performance increase by just swapping processors?
sorry, I just saw this and I don't remember the exact steps at this point since I resolved it a while ago. This post from the pfSense forums contains mys settings that ended up working: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=129528.msg713736#msg713736. I hope it helps, as it's all the NAT or...
I'm just using it for my home, but using the tools in the link you provided, minus the torrent download, I have no DNS links using PIA VPN with PIA DNS servers.
I spent $309 on a Qotom Q355G4 (i5-5250u CPU) that came with a 30 GB Intel SSD and 4GB of Samsung RAM from Amazon. It is a fanless unit, but ran too warm for my liking (50C - 68C) so I modded a 120 mm case fan to run off one of the 5V USB ports and placed it two inches above the case and now my...
Update #2 on Qotom q355g4 mini PC: Learning pfSense has been a challenging, frustrating, rewarding, and tedious endeavor over the past 3 weeks to say the least. As of last night, I can say that I now have this router doing everything that I wanted it to do...after three weeks of cutting off my...
Best I've been able to do with my g.skill is 3162 with a BLCK of 107.8 on the 2933 strap. So far, changing the ram voltage and SOC can't get me a higher ram speed.
Update:
So far I'm quite impressed with the power and capabilities of the pfSense router system. Although I'm still having difficulty running both an OpenVPN server (remote network access) as well as a PIA VPN client at the same time. I can run the OpenVPN server just fine, but not with PIA...
You can't change the VID or you won't get the clock you want. For me, to get to 3.850 GHz, I set FID to 9A and left the rest of the pstate settings at default. On the voltage settings page, you set the vcore to + offset to whatever you need. For example, my 1700 requires a +0.1625v vcore...
For those interested in R5 1600, best price I've seen: https://hardforum.com/threads/jet-com-ryzen-r5-1600-188-59-or-lower-after-spring15-coupon-and-before-tax.1929967/
Jet.com coupon SPRING15 (TRIPLE15 doesn't work) when paired with the AMD Ryzen R5 1600 results in a final pre-tax cost of between $182.94 and $188.59. AMD's recommended price is $219.99. Tax puts it up to $194 to $200 for me in Florida, but a good deal for those where tax isn't applied.

Well, I've went the route of using a Qotom q355g4 mini Pc off of Amazon. It has four Intel LAN ports and an i5 5250u. It arrived last night and this will be my first foray into pfsense. I brought it to work and got pfsense 2.3.3 installed, as it came with an unactivated copy of Windows 7 on...
They are all in stock right now at Newegg. Personally, I'd go 1600 and OC it...just as I went 1700 instead of with an X. Anyone looking for the 1400, Frys has it on sale for $149 instead of $169...
I was waiting for the 1600 myself, but I couldn't pass up that 1700 eBay deal for $250 shipped. Just too good of a deal and I was fortunate enough to get in on that deal. I'm happy with the upgrade from my 2600k so far.
Yes, I've tried all the settings of those who got to 3200, but I appear to be one of the handful who can only get to 2933 at this time. Tried all the various bios as well.
Finally got my new 1700, C6H, and f4-3200c14d-16gtzkw up an running. I'm disappointed I can't get 3200 out of the ram at this time like many have...stuck a 2933. IBT (10 passes at max) indicates that my pstate 0 overclock is humming along fine at 3825 with an offset voltage of +0.16. This tops...
My new $250 eBay R7 1700 (same China stepping as Kyle initially reviewed) arrived today and my CH6 arrives tomorrow...so a new computer build is coming this weekend. This will be my first AMD since back before my Intel e5200...think it was maybe an Athlon 3200+, and a Barton 2500 before that...
And here last year I finally "upgraded" to two 24" Viewsonic 1080p 144Hz monitors from my then/now antiquated Westinghouse 19" 1400 x 900 monitors...lol.
I agree, which is why I ordered the 1700. But thought I would pass it along in case someone was looking for an 1800X deal because they don't feel like OCing.
I was just going to post about this. The same seller has the 1800X for $459.99 which would drop it to $409.99 for those living outside of CA.
Link for 1800X...
From Hot Deals thread: 1700 is OOS, but code would also probably make the 1800X $409.99 AC

Yep, R5 is what I want and hopefully x370 mobos will be in stock by then. I'd rather get a nice AM4 mobo now with a cheaper CPU until better revisions are out in a year or two for the 8 core Ryzen. I like the idea of AM4 being around until 2020.
I will get an r7 1700 later when itx mobos are...
I'm with you...waiting for the 6 cores. I'm not jumping in on the 8 cores until later steppings can improve 1080 performance to match my 1080p 144hz monitors.
