When you started the VM, you should have seen an IP address within your local network like maybe 192.168.something.something. Enter that IP into a browser and you'll connect to the VM with selections to configure it and reboot it. After you configure it, you have to restart/reboot it. The VM...
Great boost today on QMC. 163 positions for the week. Nice job Ice! Thanks for the assist. I've got 2 quads running QMC (along with CPDN and WCG) but your 4300+ for the day was just outstanding.
We've bumped up to 28th overall in the Vault. Nicely done... nicely done indeed. Great job everyone.
You may have to suspend your other clients for a few minutes to get the Simap downloads to kick in then resume your other clients. I had to do that. Got 2 machines with over 60 wu between them crunching away.. :D
There's 3 blocks of 50,000 wu each in this go round. The next round after this...
BOINC will give those quads a workout for sure.
While we all crunch for our own personal reasons and causes, I've found there's quite a few F@H style projects out there that run on Boinc. IMO WCG has some very worthwhile projects and that's my main focus. But I also run POEM@Home, Climate...
That's it.. it's working. Ignore that HD image is corrupt message. That's normal when folding from an ISO version.
See my additional post above for an even easier method if you like for future setups. Good job getting it running.
Glad to see you're willing to give it a try. Looking at what I suggested again (it's been a while since I ran Notfreds, but ran it successfully for months) I think I took you the tough route. Let's try the easy way eh? You've got the hard part done with getting VMware server installed. You can...
You'd think so wouldn't ya.. I'm almost close enough to run an extension cord heh..heh.. I'd be almost willing to bet not a kw of my power comes from Limerick either. Most of their outgoing lines that I can tell are not destined for the local market. But nuke plants are the biggest scam going in...
Thanks Razor for keeping up with this during January and all the testing update info!
Version 6.6.2 Beta available for:
Linux 32 bit.
Linux 64 bit.
Older Linux x86/x64 bit command line version.
Version 6.6.3 Beta available for:
Windows 32 bit.
Windows 64 bit.
MAC OSX...
Great contribution to a excellent cause. Thanks for participating.
You don't really have to get involved with Linux to run Linux F@H. You can do it pretty easy on your Windows quads. VMware Server is a free download from here. That link will allow you to register for free license keys. Not...
Dang Evil... I hate it every time this comes up. But like a moth drawn to the flame.. .1485/kwh and these are the "cheap" winter rates in SE PA. I too am dreading the upcoming PECO rate increases. Currently using 1400-1500kwh per month but if the rate increases are too bad I may have to kill the...
39! Nice work Commandos! Pretty much blew that 50 goal out the water eh?
Just a couple of thoughts on wheresatom's "objectives" list. First off the list looks good to me. Second, I think the Commandos are getting noticed as evidenced by the fact there's been over 8000 views on this thread...
The January crush @ work is almost over (thank God..) so I'll have time to play with a few other projects shortly.
Looks like the Commando's ranks have grown a bit. Awesome. Welcome to all the new Commandos.
The Projects spreadsheet should be pretty up to date. I'm currently working on...
Try having them BOTH on the same box at the same time. I had 4 projects running concurrently on a quad. GPUGrid, WCG, CPDN and SZTAKI. I've got 6.4.2 on it for running the GPU and the scheduler is AFU on it. I completed a last GPU unit and chose not to get any more until I get this mess cleaned...
Looks like you're gonna be the crash test dummy for this one. I can't say for sure what will happen but WCG will definitely NOT re-download work already gotten. If it isn't returned in time, it'll go out to someone else.
I'd also imagine renaming a box in the middle of running a WU will...
Updated the projects spreadsheet with the new additions. Also added a link to download Boincview since it looks like the author's site is permanently offline now.
I had to look that up as it sounded kinda...kinky ;). What's a bigger concern though is that you have spare time. What the heck is that.
Great read and a good interview. Congrats on the nomination for HDCotM and good luck.
If you're running 6.2.19 stable (I run this on one Windows machine) and don't need GPU, stick with it. No reason to upgrade right now. If you do decide to try another version I'd recommend going NO higher than 6.4.2 for now. That's only if you need GPU support.
I also recommend completing all...
Pretty much spot on except "Granted Credit" is based on a quorum that tries to equalize points granted for amount (total CPU time) of work done. This is only on units with a quorum >1. So if you run a unit with a 15 of 19 quorum and you have a fast CPU but get paired up with all slow clients...
Right here dude..
Unfortunately the site appears to be down. Whether it's permanent or temporary I don't know as Amanheis quit development on this several years ago and has been MIA since. Still works great with Boinc though as the Boinc developers have taken care to keep Boinc functional...
In general, any 64 bit OS is going to do better provided the individual science apps are coded for 64 bit. Many of them are.
For WCG there's a couple of things at play here. In general, Windows scores better "overall" than Linux on WCG by a small margin from a lot of reading I did. The...
No new Beta releases for a while now. Time to bump this back up for any of the potential new Commandos that might be wondering what is the "best" Boinc version to fire up.
Making some nice progress in the Vault. WTG Commandos!
The project spreadsheet is updated and current AFAIK...
Noticed Spinhenge is down this morning. I've got about 20 units sitting in my queue trying to connect. Guess that'll give me some time to catch up on the other projects. :D
You guys are trying to keep me busy aren't you.. ;)
I think I've got everything added into the updated project list. I have a total of 64 projects in the list. LMK if you find any errors. I'll get around to double checking all the links and stuff after the January rush at work. For now it's...
Some nice movement going on in the Vault standings. It's great seeing our name in all those daily updates on the forum too.:D
It looks like SIMAP is out of work until February 1st. I've disconnected two clients from it for now and added in Spinhenge and SZATAKI to give them a boost.
The...

We've got our 1 million...
I'm pretty sure we'll finish it a million up. Only need 150k over today and tomorrow.
On a side note, stats will be delayed tonight and tomorrow night. I'm working overnights so won't be here when the stats are posted. Unless somebody else snags them and post them up, they'll get posted...
