So would the P4 Dual Core Extreme Edition be about as good as it gets for video encoding right now?(xvid, h264, etc.) topaimz, you said you have a 3.4ee in your old rig. Just curious.. what did you replace it with?

Are these really the old "Deathstars"? I didn't know those were still around. Was going to have a friend pick one of these up, but if that's the case I won't.

Do you have a Win2K or WinXp install CD? If so, you can boot from the setup CD... and use it to remove the NTFS partitions... then restart without actually installiing 2K or XP.

Another vote for O&O. Been using it for a long time and like it much better than others I've used.

PokerAlice, I tried pulling up pages and images that resembled what you described, and I don't notice anything. Could lighting in the room cause it? (keep in mind I don't know what it looks like) On another note (off topic)... I see you mentioned you have a 19" dell lcd. Any particular reason...

Boxman, I haven't tried any of that with mine. I'm sure someone else has tho. I did look at that feature when I bought it, because I thought I might use the monitor eventually for something like that.

I'm wanting something that will automatically generate a page(or generate into a designated area of a page) with a list (text list) of all the images that are in a certain directory on an ftp site. It will basically be a "fancy" version of when you type in a url and get a directory listing...

I read the post at that thread and I believe he's trying to figure out the best way to "tweak" his monitor's colors, brightness, etc.. Any VP201 owners out there figured out the best way? If so, what software, utils, etc.. are you using? This would probably be helpful info. for everybody.

You're right... I won't be playing any DVD's back thru it. But now that I think about it, the Deluxe board would be better if I did decide to do more with the machine later. Plus I found a Geforce4 MX in my closet still new in the box. The main thing is stability. This pc will be on 24/7...

jienn, if I were you, I'd goto BestBuy or somewhere you can play with a few LCD's. Or if you have a friend with a 16ms LCD(VP201, 2001FP, etc..), then I'd take it for a test drive. I play Call of Duty and COD United Offensive the most, and with those games I get zero ghosting or blurring...

On my Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop with a P4 1.8ghz proc, Firefox 1.0, Flash 7, and my cpu usage stays at either 97% or 100%.

I got my younger sister a Dell 600M, and it's been great for her. I highly recommend the on-site warranty, because my sister is off at school in San Diego and Dell has already shown up there for a repair. She broke a key off (not sure how) and they took care of it. Pretty nice, and that 800...

Where is a good place to buy one of these "micro fiber cloths"? I've been looking for something to clean my LCD's with. I was always told to use water/alcohol mixed 50/50. Dell recommends it too. At least that's what they told me to use on my laptop's screen.

I am very familiar with Gainward as a company, and have owned a couple of their cards. But I had not and have not read any reviews or anything about the card itself. Cool. Where did you order it from?

Looks good!! You been playing many games on it? Do you drive a Dodge?;) I don't know much about the Gainward, but as long as it's a 6800GT and Dual DVI... I don't see how you can go wrong. Either way, let us know how the new card works out.

I use FTP, but I have used http://www.imageshack.us/ . You don't have to register if you don't want to. I highly recommend it. After you submit a PIC, it will even give you <html> for a thumbnail. Just copy and paste the code you want.:)
