Thanks for your test, Viper GTS.
Chucco over at the Philips thread measured his and found the screen to be 0.140 inches off, which works out to be 3.55mm on a 15" square he made.

If the sample square you made was 20+ inches...
I had been following the Philips 40" 4k monitor thread here at hardforum and was looking to get it but freaked out when users reported measuring non-square pixels. For most usage scenarios, they say it's not a prob, but I'm looking for a monitor that I'll be doing some photo editing on.
Those...
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to test for the image stretching. I've been following this thread from since Post #1. Someone here broke the news that a few users over at some Japanese forum found out about this stretching phenomenon. Now we know those guys were right all along.
I...
I would be willing to take his word for it. Adam Simmons was the first to break news that the unit was actually SST at the time when many here believed it was gonna be MST. And now we know his source was right.
When the Philips comes here to the U.S. in Q1, lol... It's gonna have compete with...
Thanks for the update. Yeah, be sure to keep us posted when you do get it in.
I'll love to see the input lag results, SST/MST, and if it does exhibit the rumored screen stretching.
Adam from pcmonitors.info says at the bottom of his page (https://pcmonitors.info/philips/philips-bdm4065uc-40-inch-uhd-4k-monitor/) that he's getting one for review. We'll see soon enough if it's really SST.
Let's get him to test the screen stretching scandal. If indeed the "not exactly 16:9...
Guys, Adam Simmons from pcmonitors.info just updated his page to say that the Philips 40" is SST and not MST.
I wonder where he's getting his info from...

Hi Paul,
During your noise testing with the X-400FL, did you notice any slight buzzing sound during operation? I bought a similar fanless psu about a year ago (Silverstone ST45NF), was expecting it to be completely dead silent. Turns out that the transformer inside made a buzzing sound that is...
Hi Josh,
Thanks for the descriptive review. I have a few questions I would like to ask you.
I've been looking all over for a nice LED LCD that is completely silent, and I mean silent as in "COMPLETELY SILENT". The reason is that I'm currently running a 100% passive desktop system at my work...
chill out guys, this is NEC's first 30incher. I'm sure NEC didn't get the kind of reputation of making excellent monitors that we know of now just by sitting 'round and doing nothin' about their problematic models. Whether its LG's fault or mostly their own, I'm sure NEC has learned alot from...
If you're seriously looking into a LED backlit LCD, have a look at here:

Eizo has announced that they are releasing their flagship 30" CG301W in Q1 of 2008. Surprisingly the response time of this model is better than their typical high-end LCD's which hover hideously around 20-25ms. The CG301W specs 12ms, expect also to fork over near 4K to own one of these beasts.
The Samsung SM226BW input lag is pretty good, but the Iiyama ProLite E2201W is even better.

If you can hold out a little longer, NEC is making a 90 series 30 incher. I don't know how soon, but Travbomb said release date around Q4 2007/ Q1 2008. But he said that maybe 6 months ago so I don't know how the production is coming along.
looks like the Sony BVM does spot the 120hz feature

though I find it extremely unlikely for anyone to justify forking over $25K for it.
Speaking of SpectraView, will the version that comes with SpectraView be offered with silver color? Because I notice that most of the SV versions that NEC sells only come with black color. I know for sure though that the regular 2690 without SpectraView will come out with both black color...
for those who are interested, here's the link to the english user's guide of the 2690 that i found.

hey travbomb, thanks for the updates on the LCD2690.
I was wondering though, the LM260WU1 panel used for the LCD2690 looks to be very promising with many good features as are with all the 90 series LCD's from NEC.
Do you think the engineers in Japan are going to take this panel and make a...
hey jamesavery22,
according to wonkman's LCD panel list here , the samsung S-PVA LTM300M1 panel isnt being used in any LCDs right now. but samsung is actually releasing their own 30" mega LCD sometime in the future and they are probably going to use their own LTM300M1 panel for it...

Wow, thanks for your input ipconfig /all. I guess Ive read too much into those marketing gimmicks of synthetic performance numbers, I should have done more research and consulted experts.
About the quality of the CAT5s, testing them with TDRs or Pentascanners were just way too much beyond...
Hi everybody, thanks for your thoughtful replies.
The reason Im looking for a high quality layer 3 switch to host my future LAN parties is because of their reliability and speed. Ive read so much about how they handle traffic using IP address instead of MAC address, plus the fact that their...
I need recommendations for a good 24 or 26 port layer 3 switch.
My situation is this:
Just a few weeks ago, I hosted a LAN Party with about 20 computers using a SMC 16port switch uplinked to a Ovislink NWAY 16port switch(old devices).
From the start, I was hoping that this setup would...
Although John Carmack has downplayed the usage of multiple processors in regards to that developers simply dont take usage of them in the past (here and here), its all about to take into effect anyway.
While we know that the next upcoming generations of consoles, PlayStation3 and Xbox2...
Seeing all the craze around the hype of Doom3, alot of people are buying new/upgrading their systems with the latest hardware. Everything from video cards, CPU, RAM, PS, ... you name it.
And while i must admit that i too am in the market for a new video card, it hit me as to what type of...
