so today i am at work and i thought id check the inventory to see if and when we would be getting the new cards. here is what i found:

BFG 7900 gtx 512 mb 549.99
BFG 7900 gt 256 mb 349.99
PNY 7900 gtx 512mb 549.99
XFX 7900 gtx XXX 512mb 649.99
XFX 7900 gtx extreme 512mb 599.99
XFX 7900 gtx 512mb 549.99
XFX 7900 gt XXX 256mb 374.99
XFX 7900 gt extreme 256mb 349.99
XFX 7900 gt 256mb 349.99

there were no evga at all that i could find and there is no ship date listed, only that we are due to get them and hte prices that they will be at. what makes me leary is that the 7800 gtx 512mb is $750 still and that the new 7900 is going to be less? that would almost seem to say that the 7800 still has way better memory on it. but what do i know, i guess we'll just have to wait for some benches. hope this info helps ya'll.

No surely the lower price means that there are more available (90nm process -> more yeild per wafer, more cost efficient)

oh man. thats insane. i was expecting to have to drop WAY more on this new card. this rules. and so what the gfx board makers have already got this core and have already designed custum boards. thats awsome. do you have an official release date? any pics? which ones are dual slot?

they are 90nm process, along with cores on crack, three articals said the core was gonna be (stock) at LEAST 700Mhz

oh man this is so awsome! :D

For new cards, those prices arent bad. i believe they were cheaper than when the 7800GTX first came out.

and also remember tiger direct is still a little bit more pricer then newegg/zipzoomfly/monarch but this is great to hear if i needed the 7900gt right away i can always go to my local tiger direct and buy one without all that shipping.

this is going to push 7800gt's to sub 200 in the used market .. loves it

mal

Whats the difference betweent the normal 256mb, extreme, and XXX? Can you getter porn quailty with the XXX or what? :D

i guess that typically tiger always gets stuff like these and nice cpus days before they go on the market, so when we get them i will be picking one up and ill come here right away wiht pics and benches :) .

later tonight i will find some more info and post later after i get off of work.

Also i think the 7800 gtx 512's are still at such a high price is because they will drop it on the 9th or a day or two after because a lot of people would be buying them if they were 400 bucks instead of the 7900's

no its just like the differance between the asus N7800 and the asus N7800TOP, better name, better layout, better performance, bigger price tag

wow good prices  :D (probably cuz we been looking at 800+ for for the past few months) :)

I'm so happy. I'm able to sell my 7800 for a really good price. I don't have to pay much to get two of these. I hope a 7900 will still outperform a x1900xtx^^

Does anyone think that the 7900s series will support HDCP, or will HDCP-enabled video cards become available later this year?

lowest on new egg is 480, the rest hover around 500

kk thnx...

lol the 7900gtx will release in UL for around 400 pounds which is around $704 :( even if its released at 350 pounds it will cost $612

just waiting for benchies now

don't expect these to be beasts, after all its just a refresh, we haven't heard of them adding anything like what ATi added to their refresh with the shader power.

but if the 7900GT can get low enough it might make me move my upgrade plans a little sooner then AM2's release

Well I'm in an awkward situation now, based on the BS I heard about this card being slightly slower/on-par to the X1900 XTX, I ordered the ATI card a few days ago. Would you guys say I should cancel the order and wait for this 7900 card? The price point is interesting, generally if it's a better card, they would charge more... right?

I think too many people jumed the gun claiming ati will be faster. I think the 7900GTX will be faster in most current games and as fast or 50/50 with the X1900XTX in the future more shader intense games. I would cancel and sit tight. The worse that can happen is that X1900XTX you ordered will be $50 cheaper in the next 10 days :D

^^^ that is some solid advise

This is why I bought an EVGA 7800GT so I wouldn't get raped on the used market..

QFT, and Step-Up FTW! Wait for benches on the 7900GT 256MB, and then probably upgrade from my 516/CO "SE."

Didn't nVidia say they'd ship the GT at 299$ and the XT version at 499$?

thast what they said it would retail...manufacturers inflate the price...

I dont think it's the manufacturers but the etailers. Tiger knows they'll be popular so they probably inflated a good $30-$50

Once these 7900 cards come out, these will be the last of the DX9 cards? The G80 an ATI R600 are coming out later this year and will be DX10?

correct.

Is anything known about these DX10 cards? Are they going to be PCI-E?

What I was thinking is that I probably shouldn't kill a lot of money into a 7900XT now, since it sitll belongs to an old generation and then just buy one of those super expensive DX10 cards.

where did the topic start find these prices i dont see them ne where at tiger direct?

There was a guy who worked at tiger. He saw them in the stock room.

Yay for cheap 7800gt's!

He pulled them up off of the inventory.

Used to do it all the time on the SMART system when I worked for Wallyworld. :)
