Are there alot of cheaters playing battlefield 2?

Gonna pick up battlefield 2 and the expansion and get army fury today. Was just wondering even with punkbuster if there are alot of cheaters that hack in this game? :rolleyes:
 
I would not say that there is "alot" of cheaters, but they are out there no doubt about that. Everytime I spot one I just change servers (there are so many to choose from). ;)
 
there are some cheaters, you just have to look for repetative things that happen, don't confuse good players with cheaters though. If you suspect cheating just change servers, you can't make people cheating stop and you'll just get frustrated.
 
You also might want to right the screen names of the cheaters down and send them to EA. I'm sure they'll be on their ass very quickly and probably deactivate their GUID.
 
I always wonder about the ones I unload a full clip into and they'll kill me with one shot. Or the ones that always seem to know exactly where you are all the time..

Then there's the godamn bunny hoppers which I consider just as bad as cheaters.

Given the inconsistencies of playing over the internet, as well as BF2's not-so-stellar hit detection, I would hardly consider that an indication of cheating.

There's also the fact that he might just be a better shot.

Yes, there are hacks out there. But I think it's safe to say that the vast majority of accusations are aimed at legit players. It's just a good excuse for people that have no clue what they're doing.
 
I've been playing BF2 since it's demo release of June of 2005. I've got 650 hours logged into this ridiculous game and I can say I have encountered the least amount of cheaters in this game than in any other I've played. PunkBuster does a good job of weeding out the "common" hacks you can find on the net. I've seen plenty of "stat-padding" cheaters but they don't really hurt you they just hurt the stat/ranking system. I do not recall ever seeing anyone hacking BF2 on a ranked server. Ever.
 
I got accused of cheating flying a helicopter this past weekend. I am pretty good normally, but I guess I had a good run and the noob that said it got wasted several times by yours truly :). I just hate it when you have a server full of real noobs that keep calling each other noobs because they think it is cool.
 
there was some guy playing on our server the other night. Flying the chopper by himself and killing people with one shot from the Guided TV missle. and seems he never missed. I'd classify that as cheating or the best friggin chopper pilot ever. :)
 
Not a lot of cheaters. Never seen one.

However...a lot of exploiters. The difference is that exploiters take advantage of EA's coding incomptence, and do things like C4 glitching, etc, and more recently, taking advantage of vehicle drop so guys can stay "inside" the Hotel, making it uncappable and them invincible. EA will do nothing because they are not "cheating", since they have not modifed the game in any way. They're just takin' advantage of EA's noob-ness.

I'd say the worst part(s) about BF2 are moron TK'ers/noobs and the looooooooooad times.

Not cheating. Maybe exploiting at worst but mostly it just takes skill and timing. Very few pilots can do that with measured success. ;)

I was able to decrease my load time a bit by copying my BF2 dir onto my SATA 8mb buffer drive.

I also ordered another gig, I'll let you know.
 
If someone is motivated enough to cheat, he will cheat. Punkbuster stops a lot of cheats but it's mainly the ones commonly available on websites. Those cheaters who are a part of a small community who have cheats that are not widely distributed will cheat as they please without interruption from PB.

The magic of the UAV and the -Enemy Spotted- ability guarantees half the players will almost always know where you are. If you know theres a person around the corner you can come around shooting and nail them with no problem 9/10 times.

doom? or alpha? I know several guys who can do that and they play in matches were you really have a hard time getting away with cheating due to the demo recorder. so yeah prob just really good
 
ive never seen anyone using cheats, but i have seen a couple people find wall exploits and sit inside a building

cheating - a: to practice fraud or trickery, b: to violate rules dishonestly
 
no its more of an exploit. i consider cheating to use CHEATS ie an aimbot or wall hack ie you can see threw every wall. those would fall into the cheating catagory. if you fall threw a wall and shoot out that would be exploiting. exploits can be just as bad as cheating tho and should be taken care of in the same manner BANNED.
 
I haven't really seen any cheaters, but it's not as obvious as in games like CS:S where you see someone running around the map at 60 mph while spinning in a circle and getting headshots on everyone.

You'll see a guy flying the chopper alone and pulling that stuff in real time. It's rediculous!
I consider myslef to be a very skilled chopper pilot, but I use Voice and need a good gunner to really compete.
 
Self-guiding chopper pilots and bunny hoppers are not exploiting in the least.

To be able to fly a chopper, switch to the gunners seat, guide a tv and switch back before you stick the thing into a tree is a practiced skill and should be revered as the pinnacle of the craft. To say this shouldn't be possible is dumb; you can switch seats in a jeep, tank, and any other vehicle with multiple spots. Why not a helo?

Bunny hopping is just a guy you got the drop on trying to keep from getting killed. How is this an exploit? Should he sit there and hope you miss? Time the jump and try to catch him at the bottom of the arc.

I've seen no one I can conclusively point at as a cheat, but have been very few that I had deep suspicions of. Mostly you're gonna come across players that have 100s of hours logged and just know how to move. BF2 is mostly cheat free IMO.

Damn, that's incredible!

On topic, I got called a cheater last night for pulling off my first un-scoped sniper rifle kill. I'm prone on a rooftop, and a guy makes a run at me, on the roof, spraying a PKM from the hip (unaimed). I saw I was getting hit, spun, saw him, and just pulled the trigger out of reflex and hit him. His health must have been less than 100%, cause my L96A1 dropped him where he stood :D

He started crying, and was told to get over it by the rest of the server.

The only real pains in the ass anymore are the runway blockers and plane/heli TKers. Either they make you TK them to take off, or shoot you out of the cockpit with the Barrett. A new one I saw was to push your plane--with a hummer/jeep--to the back of the hangar until you explode. They don't even catch a TK from that one. Fuckers.
 
Well I have played the game for awhile but I don't play it every single day/week/month, I myself haven't spotted a cheater (not that I know of anyway) but I do get some weird kills from people in the game.

but if I do, well EA will be on their back :D

but yeah if it's not cheaters then it's the noob's that p*ss me off, especially that one's that cant fly the helicopter's, or don't help out in a gun fight, but you really cant angry with them when they have little experience with the game, if you what I am saying.

There is cheaters like in all oher games. In facts, those cheating faggot are all the same moving from game a to b. If you cheat a pb server, than you are a hardcore cheaters.

Its not really a problem in BF because of the size of the maps, numbers of players and the gameplay.
Compare to other games, bf public servers are pretty clean.
I can't tell about ladders or competition, but as we know, ladders are usually a cheating-festival.

There is for sure cheaters in bf, i see them everyday but i own them all easy. Cheater are so easy to own. ;)

Cheating was rampant on ranked servers when I tried playing again a couple months ago.

You're the only one claiming cheating is "rampant" in BF2 and coincidentally the only one mentioning a hacker web site. Funny. Oh... and welcome to the [H]forums.
 
I think I ran into my first cheater the other day. The guy was in a tank, in the middle of my base, and he was getting hit multiple times with rockets, grenades, C4, you name it, and his damn tank would just not blow up. I nailed him with three rockets myself while I watched other teamates do the same, he just merrily kept swining his turret around and knocking us off.

And it make a lot of sense, cheaters know how to spot other cheaters more easely than clean players.

I don't really care if you cheat or not.

Saying "lookup for X" is almost/like giving out the adress of the site.
Especialy when the first google result is exactly what you meant.

I guess free will doesn't exist any more? You aren't responsible for or capable of making your own decisions?

I didn't ask anyone to cheat. I asked people to do the research for themselves.

Once you watch a video or two of it happening, you might understand. You might even begin to notice it in the game too.

I guess ignorance is bliss for some of you.

You know you can't give adress of cheating website here. Don't take us for idiots by tryin to bypass this rule by giving out the name of the site. You know the site is easy to find with the name of it. Giving a name of a cheating site is like giving the adress.

You basicly said: "search for x in google and visit the first link of the result because i can't give the adress of the site in the forum"
Don't take us for the sweden governement :D
