7950GT vs 7900GTX? Which is better?

I know I am probably asking a kind of ambiguous question, but I just wanted to know if anyone can explain the differences between these two cards. They run off the same core G71, both are using 512 GDDR3, but the 7900GTX has a better cooler and I can overclock it to 700 Core/1.8 Ghz Memory. So... does that mean the 7900GTX still kicks the 7950GT's butt? XD
 
The 7900gtx is still a better card than the 7950gt. The 7950 is basically just a 7900gt refresh.

7900gtx and 7950gx are both great cards

The 7950gx is the fastest single card out there.
(I am getting 1x 7950 for my new rig)

I would perfer the 2x7950gx over the 2x7900gtx because 2x7950's beat 2x7900gtx's if you
have a 24/30 inch screen. For that is where you really pick up the cards power.

Quad SLI is great but not all games support it. Some games will onle use 1/4 of the cards
due to this reason. (talking about older games)


final comment. I just wish that the dam SLI drivers would get the bugs worked out of them ;/

why are you talking about the 7900GX2? this thread is about a 7950GT and 7900GTX.

yes the 7950GX2 is the bad boy and most people dont know that the 7950GX2 replaced the 7900GX2. its really not that confusing. i dont know why the 50 in 7950GT confuses people so much. the letters GT,GTX, and GX2 indicate the real level of the cards within the series.
