First, is this non-ultrasharp 24" new? I have never noticed it before when looking at dell's displays, and there are no reviews on their site.

Anyway, I just wanted to ask what the difference was between the 470$ 24" Monitor and the 670$ version....actually, I thought that the ultrashap was under 600? Now i'm really confused.

I would be using it for gaming and as a television (computer has a tv tuner, and DVDs, etc)

ahh i see. So this just came out then, eh?

I can get the ultrasharp through my school for $550.

I've never seen a TN side by side an IPS (the ultrasharp is the same as the samsung ips, right?) , how apparent is the difference?

assuming i can still get the ultrasharp for 550 through school, if there's no significant discount for the new 24" i'll definetely be getting the ultrasharp...i just want to know "how much the tn to ips upgrade is worth" i suppose

(the ultrasharp is the same as the samsung ips, right?)

Actually it's a Samsung S-PVA panel (LTM240CS01) in the 2407WFP-HC, which is better than a TN Film panel. #-IPS is competative technology to what Samsung manufactures (#-PVA & TNfilm)

ahh i see, thanks for clarifying.

i've heard that the problems of previous revisions were fixed with the A04 (?) version, how can i make sure this is the one i'm getting?

I do not believe the 2407WFP-HC is an IPS panel. It is most likely a PVA or MVA.

yeah, just was informed of that...just a little confusion on my part

anyway though, i'm mainly going to be using this for gaming and movies/TV...is the UltraSharp the best bet there?

my concern is ghosting. i've heard the old versions had ghosting, and then some people say it was fixed, some people say it still has issues...can anyone clarify?

and then of course i know that what the TN lacks in quality it supposedly makes up in response time...so then would that be better? it's all quite confusing...

Well, after researching all afternoon I've decided not to purchase a 2407 after becoming aware of the known (and not being fixed) issue with overdrive ghosting as detailed in 60 pages of forum posts here

I heard someone say in passing that a new 24" dell model is going to be announced soon, anybody know anything about this?

Anyone have suggestions for another 24" monitor?

Just to clarify, TN panels such as the 22" dell and the new 24" dell won't have this problem, though right?

the 2407wfp-hc has severe ghosting, like real bad that appear under normal circumstances in every day use. I had mine for 2 months before dell said started taking them back for full refunds. once my refund came in I ended up getting a lg 246.
