I found this when trying to answer someone's question a couple hours ago. To my knowledge it hasn't been posted before, but I found it very useful. The website ranks graphics cards in 6 class's, 1 being the best and 6 being total crap. Pretty interesting to see where your laptop ranks up. Unfortunately, mine is class 6, and it sure feels like it.

Taken from here.

The single 8800M GPUs are likely to beat the 7xxx series in SLI, so the beginning of the list needs a bit of sorting.

Nice list, Danny Bui.

I like the X3100 in my laptop. It's not bad at all for integrated video.

Geez, I must have Class 7. The ATI Rage Mobility in my ancient Gateway from 2001 isn't even listed.

I think that list is quite inaccurate. For me, I have a Mobility HD2600. It lists the card as having DDR2 and GDDR3 as possible memory configurations. As true as that is, it seems to benchmark on the DDR2 side, pushing the card way down.

3dmark06 @ 1024x768 gives 3100ish, it says. I run 1280x1024 to get 3300 given my GDDR3 model.

This along with many other laptops are being incorrectly rated. Hopefully only people who know what they're actually reading will take this list with anything more a grain of salt.

Yeah, the Intel X3100 has some real potential.

Its just about as fast as the old GMA950 in DX7/8 games, but its much faster than the old integrated chipsets for DX9 stuff.

It plays Civilization IV and Guildwars fairly well - even at 1280x800 (Averaging probably around 20 fps or so) The DVD playback is noticably clearer than the old chipsets too.

Its almost surprisingly fast in some games, and then surprisingly mediocre in others:

If they can get their act together for a Vista driver, I think they actually might not be laughed off as an also-ran.

My Compal FL91 (Intel reference) gets about 860 in 3Dmark05 with XP, which is almost passable.

True to that, i'm getting 30XX in 3dmark 2006 with my GF Go 7700, its a nice list for reference but i wouldn't belive everything it says.

I used to like linking to that list (my 7950gtx was at the top for the past year), but now that i've spent more time on [H], I realize what a joke their ranking is.

First off they don't tell you how they're ranking cards. I assume it's with some benchmark (which a [H] has shown canned benchmark suck for card comparisons).

The 8800gtx has the best 3dmark06 score, yet is ranked 3rd?
The 8700m is the equivalent of the 7900gtx, yet it's ranked below the 7900gs?

Also it's really hard to get an accurate comparison of laptop GPUs, since they all have different motherboards/ram/hdds/cpus. There's no way they used all the same components to benchmark every GPU.

Their numbered ranking is a joke. However the 6 tiered ranking is fairly legit as you can see relatively which cards are better than others.

It's a good list for 'at-a-glance' type stuff.

Hopefully nobody is using it as a mobile gfx Bible, but then again I doubt anybody would without considerably more information.

For example, the Radeon 200M has an Intel and a AMD version and the AMD version can run dual-channel RAM and other advantages over the Intel version. Add on top of that my particular 200M is mated to a Celly-M and has a hard-locked RAM frequency of 133/533, that stays that frequency even after I pin-modded to a 200 MHz FSB. Translation, my 200M blows goats versus a Turion 200M machine with dual DDR400. I'm sure there are lots of other examples, but this is the one that I was intimately familiar with.

* forgot to add that my lappy is also DDR2. Latency of DDR2 combined with slow frequency shared memory is awesomely stupidly bad.

they should! (lol u have MBP too?) i dont see how the hell a 6800ultra makes it to class 1 and not an 8600m gt

Why? The 6800Ultra is a better card...

Remember that the first number does not always mean it is better with nvidia (aka 6 or 7 or 8) There are low end 8 series cards that get beat by high end 6 series cards.

I think the x3100 should be higher though. For integrated video it is an awesome card. Very capable and so much better than past integrated crap.
