anyone tried this mod on q9450 to turn it into qx9770 ?

The stock multiplier for the QX9650 is x9.

That mod either run at a 400 bus or they OC'd it manually.

It only changes the default fsb (BSEL mod).
It doesn't change the multiplier and it runs as much hotter as it normally would if you increased the fsb by that much.

After some investigating, I've found the mod would work on a Q9450 as well, and any other Q9xxx at that. Since the Q9450 has a 333MHz FSB x 8 (2667MHz), the mod would bring the FSB up to 400MHz x8 (3200MHz). For most people, this shouldn't result in a significant temperature difference.

You can change it from bios too.

Any good board should allow you to OC the bus. There is the Gigabyte DS3L board for $80-90 and the Abit IP35-e board for cheaper w/ a rebate.

This mod is for: If you buy a computer from HP or some other oem, totally skimp out on the motherboard and pick a cheap one, or skimp on the mobo and fold for the [H]orde :D.
