For those of you who have been thinking about it....this may be the time to jump on it.

Seagate SATA 1TB drive for $189. Starting Sunday morning

Honestly.....i dunno. I assume it would be on the website as well but that is just a guess at this point.

Oh sweet. I almost bought that mysterious 1TB Maxtor drive last week from Fry's for $199. Glad I waited.

I would assume it has to be the 7200.11 with 32MB cache as I don't think there is any other Seagate 1TB drive (other than the ES2 which is mostly the same thing).

To Pickxx. If this is a cute day after April Fools Day joke. You will be tarred, feathered, and quartered.

I wonder if there is a max limit per person?

Doesn't look like a joke at all.

Honestly, your best bet is to buy as many as you want now. Then go back Sunday morning and get your price adjustment.

Does this work? What if it's 1 per person, they will only adjust one and not all right?

It sure does. I purchased 8 of the 120GB 2.5" SATA drives on the same receipt and went back a couple days later and had them all adjusted to $22.49.

It shouldn't matter if there is a limit or not. The fact of the matter is that when you purchased them there was no such limit in effect.

Now here is my opinon (and I think most by now know how I feel about Best Buy).

If I purchased 10 of these for my personal use and they wouldn't give me a price adjustment (especially a printed advertisement) I would sit there and open each one and then return them all.

Their restocking fee policy does not cover hard drives.

Is BB going to fight you on a price match, maybe. The likelyhood of that depends on the Best Buy you go to. If you get shot down, go to a different one or go back when that CSR isn't working.

In for 6! :D
Going to return the 6 I just bought at Fry's for $199 a piece now...

That seems to only work for external HDs, not internals like this one.

Sheet, looks like you're right - but it is still worth a try. I know that I have personally used these in the past on things that are in the 'not allowed' section and it works just fine as long as you don't get an anal rep. If you're going to try this with 8 hdds your probably going to hit more hastle though.

Now I have to debate if I want to make the 50 mi trip to BB though and if it is worth it to get one NOW and then go back again to get the price match...

I can't imagine it's worth 50mi each way...after tax, it's about the same price as you can catch drives for on sale online. Good deal for a B&M, not UBERH0T OMG from what I can tell, though.

Aw, without that 10% coupon to negate the 9.25% Chicago tax I can't justify it.

there is no way this is the 7200.11 32mb version. there is a 1TB 7200.10 w/ 16MB cache and I guarantee thats what this is.

hey guys don't worry about what the coupon says, just try it
90% of the time the cashiers don't pay attention

Don't hold your breath on picking it up early. Shows as "online only" on the website. So they probably won't have them on shelves till Sunday.

When it comes to HDD's i dont f*ck around.....

I saw that and thought you guys would love to know. Like always it turns into a "lets try to find a cashier not paying attention so i can use a coupon that isn't valid" conversation like always......It always makes me regret giving peeps the heads up on this stuff.

You would have found out later, but some of you may have missed out on limited quantities.....I always regret sharing good deals because i am only making young kids jobs harder because of some cheap ass people. \rant........Sorry.

FYI - I went to 2 different BB yesterday, and they have them out on the shelves. About 8-10 at both stores.

There was(key word is "was") 6 on the shelf at the St Louis South County store.

Umm whats the warrenty on these ?

I remember at one point companies making the retail drives only 1year instead of the 5 year on OEM.
Are they still doing this?

Not that i can even buy these, as most likely this will be on US BB stores only.
And i just bought 3 of the OEM ones with 32mb, for $235 about 3 weeks ago.
This is definetly a good price if they are the same drives with same warrenty.

5 year warrantee.

I picked one up and I'll PM it Sunday.

The Manhattan store has about 30 on the shelves.

The price is HOT. Are 1TB prices dropping to this level for the long haul?

It is the 7200.11 version because seagate only makes one version of 1tb drives. the 7200.10 only goes up to 750gb

Why does the ad say the normal price is $259.99 when the website clearly lists them as 329.99?

Picked up 4 at BB today, Friday, for $189 for a new NAS. Price matched Frys $189 to get the Sunday price. BB was not to impressed with the Sunday BB price but had to give it up when I showed them the Fry's ad. 10% coupon was not accepted but I can always go to another BB and see if it will work on Sunday.

The Seagate drives I got from BB were 32mb versions and .11. There is a 16mb 1T Seagate drive in the 7200.11 product mix; but they are not the ones in this sale. Just look at the BB ad and do a google search of the Seagate part number and it will telly you what this drive is.
