does the stuttering goes for every one? i notice some people did not get effect by it how is this???

yeah, I maxed out the CCC settings for my card which is 675 and 1050. Running at 1680x1050 2xAA and the eye candy on high. Windows XP.

I have weird issues with frame rate, it'll run at 40-50 fps one min, and 18fps the next

System in sig, hotfix 2 drivers
1280x1024 ultra 2x aa...

yes, experiencing stuttering on stock clocked q9300 and 4850 in vista ultimate dx10. its like i'm ghosting in a multi player shooter; sliding a few paces further than i expected to. very high settings at 1920x1080 and no aa, no vsync.

This has been covered many times. Its a bug essentially which can be fixed by capping your fps (gfx_maxfps 30). However if you dip below your cap you stutter again. Only dx10 though, use dx9 or play a better game =).

yea i tried that before but playing at 30fps is horrible

(I don't have the card in my sig yet, it's on it's way)

From what I gather it can be caused by two problems.

One is that you upgraded from an nVidia card and didn't format. It sounds like even if you uninstall the nVidia driver set, some parts of it remain lodged in the computer and interfere with the 4000 series cards (can't confirm).

The second is that you may have slow RAM (DDR2 800 speeds or below)

doubtful. there have always been ati cards in my htpc so there are no nvidia drivers to uninstall, and i don't think any of the users commenting on this thread about having this problem have anything slower than ddr800 ram.

This stuttering occurs for me as well. However runnign fraps shows fps remaing relatively constant the whole time. I capped it at 40, and notice very very minute hiccups, and i checked fraps graph (g15 app) and no downspikes occured. As the above poster had said, limiting at 30 blows.
