squeal on Gigabyte EX58 UD5?

I've narrowed my X58 mobo search down to the P6T dlx vs the Gigabyte EX58 UD5. I considered the Biostar X58, but it doesn't seem to get much "airtime" so I'd rather get a board that others are using (least around here). I already have an EVGA X58, but this new board will go on my 2nd build (picked up another I7 920 at a sweet price at Microcenter).

I was leaning towards the Gigabyte due to past experiences with RMA'ing a board (relatively painless). Also like their dual bios and the fact I was actually able to talk to a tech for troubleshooting (maybe I was lucky). The problem is that I've heard reports from different forums complaining a squeal that eminated from the mobo during file downloads.
How prevalent is this? This computer will be in my bedroom so I don't want any more noise than is absolutely necessary.

p.s. considered the bloodrage and dfi x58, but I'm not an OC'ing fiend so I'd rather not have a cerebral hemorrhage trying to figure bios settings for a moderate overclock

I've had motherboards that squealed; it's generally an indication of shoddy manufacturing or rough shipping. None of my squealing boards were ever Prime95 stable even at stock clocks, I had to RMA them all. I'd stay away IMO.

My experience with this has been different. I've had multiple motherboards with varying degrees of high-pitch noises under different types of load (CPU load, SATA, network). I haven't had stability problems with any of them. The noises are typically caused by components of the voltage regulation module (inductors or capacitors). In some cases, these components vibrate at an audible frequency, and this can be very annoying, but not detrimental to the functioning of the board. In other words, these noisy components function correctly; they just make audible noises while doing so. I would stay away from any board that has components which make these noises because they drive me nuts, but stability is typically not the concern.

As much as I like the features of the Giga board, the possibility of getting a board that squeals is a deal clincher for me. This type of problem would probably not get resolved via RMA. They'll probably just tell me the board works fine and they couldn't "duplicate" the noise. Looks like the P6T dlx for me

Actually... I think my ud5 has or had this... very very tiny whine.. It would always happen during a driver load when going into windows.. I think it might have been my old sound card becuase I got a new one and seems like it's gone now.. but it could have gone with burn in also I guess... btw, the board is solid as a rock.. I have a mild OC on it right now, but all 6gb of memory run at 1600 with low vdimm and 21x base clock with no issues at all.. I am really happy with the board!
