Hi, received my XFX Radeon HD 4890 XXX from scan.co.uk today and had some problem installing it (Molex slots are different than I expected). See http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1419006 for details.

My card appears to be different from the card I have seen in reviews such as this one: http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews.php?/gpu_displays/xfx_hd_4890_xxx_1gb_pcie_graphics_card/2

Below are some pictures:

What is the reason for this? I specifically would like to know why my card requires an 8 pin molex and a 6 pin, when usually they require two 6 pin.

Looks like a new revision with a beefed up power rail(s) and probably other tweaks.
The colour of components can change if a colour isnt specified in the components order ATI made.
It doesnt change the function.

Nothing wrong with your card. It'll be fine with a $5 6 to 8 pin adapter, assuming your PSU is up to it.

More stable power and overclocking.

6-pin PCIe, delivers 75w: three +12v, three GND

8-pin PCIe, delivers 150w: four +12v, four GND
