I'll start out with a no brainer, the Google App. Basically its a one stop app for all the other google apps, gmail, talk, maps, earth, voice search, etc. Put this on my Home screen and moved all the separate google apps some where else. It still requires the apps to be installed like Earth, but all you need is the main app to access them all.

I also replaced the default weather app with Weather Channel (TWC) app. And added WootWatch, for all my wooting needs.

I can't seem to log into my Fandango account via the Fandango app, tells me invalid email:( Otherwise another very helpful app for seeing movies.

And just for fun, MyVibe (let you figure that one out) and the Zippo Lighter apps.

Doing this to get a good idea for some fun apps.
 
I think Remote is one of my most used apps. It's so nice being able to sit on the couch and queue up a bunch of music in the iTunes DJ playlist.
 
I agree with Remote. I use Shazam a lot if I'm not sure the name of a song. I also use Livestrong a lot to look at nutritional facts on foods. Also, who thought it would be the great idea to port the crack that is known as Peggle to the iPhone?

Best game I've found so far (which was recommended to me by someone at work) is Zombieville, USA. Get the Lite version to check it out, it's pretty fun. :) Considering buying the full game.
 
used a iMapMyRun to track a bike ride today. Pretty nice as it has a built in bike, run, walk settings. Tracks distance and speed.
 
RunKeeper free edition is by far one my most favorite apps. Tracks your route when biking, running, walking and shows speed/distance.
 
Air sharing, Diggle, Twitterfall, Camera Bag, Around me, Evernote, 2Myself, Weatherbug elite, Kindle (iPhone edition), Easynews, SaiSuke, Dial 9, Tuner and Stickies.

As far as games go: Sims 3, Paper Toss, Let's Golf and iTrade

Facebook, Twitterfon, Shovel, Pandora, Shoutcast, Urbanspoon, Fandango - these are my most used apps.

As for Games:
Uniwar, Flick Fishing, FlightControl, Let's Golf, Zenonia and Chess With Friends are the games I run to when I need some fun while waiting. Thinking of picking up a racing game, but I can't decide on Real Racing and NFS Undercover.....

Edit: Add ifighter and lasers to the list of games I play...pocket god is nice for the 5 minutes after you download the update and mafia wars is pretty boring but neverending, thus i continue to build wealth.
 
some important apps to me are sportacular, which is better than espn imo, flight control, peggle, and last.fm.

xGPS: This is currently being ported to the app store, used to be jailbroken. Will allow for turn-by-turn directions, like a GPS.

Jailbroken:

PDANet: tethering via ad-hoc wifi connections. Lets you tether even if tethering is disabled or you're on a 2G.
Cycorder: Video recorder for 2G/3G. 3GS now has it built in, though.
Winterboard: if you like themes. I personally don't.*
SBSettngs: slide your finger over the statusbar and get a dropdown menu to turn on/off wifi, 3G, and lots of other stuff.*
OpenSSH: Lets you SSH into your phone. While this might not seem very useful initially, you can use WinSCP to move files around on the iPhone's flash memory.

* note that these use MobileSubstrate to hook the SpringBoard. They'll all slow down your phone a little. Most people don't notice it or it doesn't bother them. I personally don't use them as it DOES bother me.

TWC app is so much better than the standard weather.
Google Maps is always nice.
Shazam is useful for random radio songs.
Solebon is great, so many options of card games.
Fandango, just switched from Flixster, still not sure which one i like more.
Games: Start Trek is a lot of fun, also enjoy flight control. Field Runners is my favorite and most played game.
 
I use Wordpress for my blog, fandango, skype, emotifun (for emoji), Units is a great converter app, flashlight duh, remote is awesome..

games-wise: dizzy bee and bed bugs are among my absolute favorite games on the phone and cheap to boot.
crystal def from square enix is a good tower defense game for ff nuts. sky burger is fun, zenonia is like *the* best iphone rpg, edge is also awesome, the toy bot series, and of course aurora feint.

and just for fun otherwise: dynolicious.

I've got tethering and mms enabled via the carrier file hacks and both work perfectly and don't show up any differently on my data usage on att mywireless, so yay.

I'm also another one of the people that is bugged by the slowness of the iphone while using winterboard/sb stuff, i can't stand it, plus all of the themes are pretty much hideous... I'm probably skipping jailbreaking my 3GS as I've got MMS/Tethering/Video already..
 
One app that hasn't been listed by others that i use is Iheart radio.

Currently playing Space Ace.
 
myWireless - AT&T acct info, plus can pay my bill from my phone.
iMapMyRun - uses GPS to track your route and stats, plus uploads it to your online acct.
Capsuleer - I use it for Eve Online, tracks various things dealing with my characters in Eve Online.
Showtimes - For when you want to look up times at nearby theaters.
 
I really wish there was a good app review site out there. It's hard to figure out what's good on there through the app store.

Also, Star Defense is one of the best games I've played, ever, on any console. It is super easy to pick up, and super fun to play.

MLB At Bat is a must if you are a baseball fan. Gives you radio feeds, home and away, and 10 minute condensed video of every MLB game. They are also adding live video streaming for 1-2 games a day as well. All for a onetime fee of $10.

ESPN Scorecenter is a joke, much like the network that spawned it. Sportacular is still better, albeit not as pretty.

I like Bank of America, AT&T MyWireless, The Weather Channel, Air Sharing, DirecTV, the new Sirius XM app, iheartradio, Kindle, Flixster, TV.com, and Twitterfon.

Simplify Media - I have way more than 32gb of music. This app lets me stream music from my computer to my iPhone.
 
Real Racing is sick. It's easily as fun as the first time I played gran turismo 2 on the ps 1.

Haha, it is the very best shit entertainment device I've ever used. Geo defense is my current toilet adventure. Ive never played the worms games tho, what are they like?

Think Gorilla - The old QBASIC game. It's a turn-based 2D side-view... Thing. Maybe Wikipedia can explain it better. All I know is that it's damned addicting!

I played Gorilla Basic for hours, my friends and I screwed with the code to alter gravity and explosion sizes for the banana's, like mini nukes. They need to release that on the iphone. There was an alternate version called Castle War, but nothing beats Gorillas on top of skyscrapers throwing explosive bananas at on another.

I did the same thing, that game was great to mess with... of course this just makes me wish there was a version of scorched earth for the iphone.
 
most useful appstore apps are easily Orb, Logmein ignition and facebook

As for games, my current favorites are Worms and Mecho Wars :)

Just FYI that one time fee only applies to the 2009 season. Next year you'll have to pay $10 all over again... still a great app though.
 
Biased b/c I'm one of the developers but BillMinder is useful for tracking bills. It has more features than competing apps and we try to be responsive to users as well. :)
