Does anyone know anything about the return police on the dell 2405. I searched dell but maybe I over looked it. I have 3 dead pixels center screen.

Thanks for any info

How many others out there have had dead pixels? I love the monitor but the pixels a bug in me.

Dell has a 21 day satisfaction guarantee. Basically you can get a replacement if you're not satisfied, just call them.

Dell has a zero dead pixel policy if you bought it from them. Any dead pixels, you can return it.

I've exchanged once already because of two dead pixels. The replacement has none that have turned up so far.

That renews my trust in dell some. I had a laptop ordeal of 2004. lol

Apparently customer service is only in on weekdays?

Also does anyone know if they advice replace?

Is Dell the only company that has the zero dead pixel policy?

ok so no matter what if you wanted a refund there is a 15% restocking? can someone direct me to where i can do this online at? i have the most annoying stuck pixel and one dead pixel

also is shipping covered by them as well?

How long is the actual warranty on Dell LCD's? The 21 day timeframe is just for a refund or new replacement isn't it? How long can you continue to get replacements? You get refurbs after 21 days correct? Dell covers return shipping cost dont they? Do you get an extended 21 day period when you get a replacement?

yes on the 21 day, cross shipping i dunno, i think they do

Well just exactly how long is the entire warranty on like a Dell 2005FPW? 1 year? 3 years?

3 years, but then u get refurbs or they just fix urs

How long do you have to send back the old LCD? Do i just call UPS when i'm ready? I would like to compare the new one to the old one before i send the old one back.

yes i just sent out for a replacement, i have 7 days to return the one i dont want in the box the replacement came in...so u can compare

for 1 g i would expect perfection

ps it is prepaid return by dell

My exchange didn't come with a shipping label so be on the lookout. You might have to call and arrange for a pickup.

If there are 3-4 Dead pixels on the LCD Monitor, then it is considered
as normal. However if there are more than 4 dead Pixels we will
certainly replace the Monitor.

I e-mailed the guy back with the information they needed and stated that the dell warranty says satisfaction guaranteed for 21 days and there is no stipulation on number of dead pixels so hopefully i'll get my replacement 2005FPW sent out in a few days.

It looks really great now but there are a few dead pixels and i'd like to try and get a perfect one if i can. I really only notice one of them and its like a spec of dust right in the middle of my screen.

So what do you guys think the chances are of Dell eventually getting a newegg style dead pixel policy where they won't replace even a brand new display within that 21 day period for x number of dead pixels? Seems like they sure have to process a LOT of exchanges and you would kinda figure sooner or later this gravy train is going to end. :D

Dell will usually send a carrier out to you to pick up the defective monitor.

I'll bet a lot of customers aren't as picky as the rest of us and overlook a dead pixel or two. Heck, some may not even see them!

I'm crossing my fingers that my 2405 comes with all pixels intact. I'm glad Dell has the 21-day policy, but still--it's a hassle to have to deal with returns.

Just received my 2405FPW and it is awesome BUT I have a single very dead pixel about four inches from the top of the display just about dead center. Called Dell and they said no problem, a new one is on it's way. An hour later the new order number is "In Production". The CS rep said that there will be a return label in the new display's box and that I can either give the old display to the driver that delivers the new one, or just drop the new one off myself. Great CS from Dell.

I bet most users dont even know what a dead pixel really is. I was surprised at how minor these dead pixels are on my Dell 2005FPW but since everyone else trys to get a perfect one i might as well do the same considering the cost of the LCD.

If this pixel was not close to dead center, or was not completely dead (black), I would not have bothered. I will compare this one with the replacement and keep the best one. Now that I am running the 2405FPW and the 2001FP dual monitor setup I don't think that I could go back to the 2001FP alone.

Just thought I would update I received my replacement monitor today.

I have to hand it to dell. First they actually called me to tell me it had shipped.

When I open the box I could tell something wasn’t right it had the vga cable hooked up and the cable end was sticking out of the other end of the bag. After hooking it up my self I realized dell tested it for dead pixels.

And after checking it there are no dead pixels. So hats off to dell.

Both my original and replacement 2005FPW came that way with the VGA cable already hooked up. Isn't that standard?

Mine too. That's how they test them.

Well if everyone’s was this way I guess my first one was not tested because I remember hooking up the cable.

From the time I ordered it till I received was 3 days. The replacement took a week. So maybe the first one was not checked.

and why wasnt that right?

every single one of my Dell LCDs (1800FP, 1905FP, 2001FP, 2405FP) have always come with the VGA cable hooked up. but that certainly doesnt mean that there was something wrong with it. thats just how they pack 'em.

Yeah, both of mine had the cable attached too (2001fp)....BTW, Dell's customer service has gone straight down the tubes. They arranged for a pickup of a defective 2001fp.....and I emphasize 'they.' I wanted to bring the box to work rather than leave it on my doorstep. So I asked them to change the pickup point to my work. They did. Well, today, I am home sick....caught some kinda bug and didn't feel like gutting it out on a Friday. And UPS shows up at my home. Fortunately the box is here at home so off it went. The CSRs don't speak or understand English well and they apparently can't follow directions. One other thing that bothered me....at the end of the phone call with them last night they asked me to rate their customer service....and it was the guy that just helped me! Duh....unbiased survey? Ya, right.

Ok let me restate that my first dell monitor did not have the cable hooked up……….
So to me it looked wrong when the second one did… I am saying I am proud of them if they hooked it up and tested it.

As for customer service. This time and in my case they have got it right.
Now granted I have not sent the other one back and there for there still could be problems.

Dell customer service has been horrible. They send nearly incomprehensible emails that appear to be form letters that are inappropriately modified. And now I am suspicious that the replacement 2001fp they sent me wasn't a new monitor at all. The revision number is A00 and the UPS tracking number on the monitor I sent back to them has a wierd history. On April 26, 2004, in Stafford TX, the activity reported by UPS is " THE RECEIVER HAS MOVED. UPS ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE RECEIVER TO COMPLETE DELIVERY, NO DELIVERY WAS MADE." Ok, this is almost I year ago (and it also appears this monitor is linked with a tracking history)! I even asked for the lastest revision. Looks like they sent me an early monitor instead!

I combed over mine with dpb and didn't find one dead pixel.. the backlight is even all over too.

Dell does not have a zero dead pixel policy BUT they do have a 21 day total satisfaction guarantee period. This means that you can replace or return your monitor for ANY reason within the first 21 days. However, after the 21 days, you're now into your warranty period, and they will replace the monitor with a refurb only after 6 or more dead pixels appear.

However, many times you can convince the tech that the pixels are more bothersome than normal dead pixels, and they'll make exceptions and send you a refurb.

So there is no de facto zero dead pixel policy, but an implied one during the first 21 days only.

I just found one dead pixel on my 2405 (it wasnt there in the past week, it just came up now) and its really bothering considering how much the display cost. I cant see it half of the time, but it bugs me so much that I know its there...?

so what's the deal, do you have to ship the monitor to dell, or do they pick it up? How much does it normally cost to ship this masive 2405? if it's too much I wont bother to even get it replaced, but if I learn dell does it for free, then hey, im totally down for that.

I live in Austin, TX, where they have HQ here, do you guys know if its possible to just drive to their place and get it replaced like that?

I also agree getting a replacement for your monitor if the pixels dont really bother you is a waste of time. I got a replacement and it happen to have just as many dead pixels in the same spots. If you want to try you can at least see the replacement and decide for yourself but it is probably just a waste of time. And most likely even if you think you have no dead pixels you probably do you just havent looked in the right spots hard enough . Most of the time they dont just appear overtime it is usually a manufacturin defect.
