Everytime I start BF2 I get that damn Message From EA window. I have gone to the "message" but it is just an add for the 1.03 patch. But it still comes up everytime I start the game, It is also stopping me from useing a 3rd party app to find a server! This is really getting anoying!

yeah it has popped up everytime i load the game now after the patch...

yeah i get it everytime too, im not sure if its because i deleted the intro. i even went to the ad and it still shows up each time i open the game.

No it was a new feature added with this patch.

could of sworn it popped up before i even installed the patch

From the 1.03 patch readme file:

- Account Login Welcome Screen

After you login to an online account, a message appears that
contains BF2 news and information which updates periodically.

Looks like we are stuck with it forever. There is probably a regisrty bit that will turn it off.

Well, if you're using xfire, you can bypass that screen. Here's a link to the fix on xfire's forums. As a nice side effect, it'll skip your account login too :p

Then there's the BF2 Auto Loader. Click me!! It's kind of like a mini all seeing eye with a couple minor issues. It also skips your account login info.

For ASE, you'd probably have to add the +username **** +password **** for it to work...not sure tho.

How lazy are you people? How hard is it to click "Close"?

It's not about laziness, it's efficiency. This was what I would tell my mom when she asked why my bed was always a mess. I thought it looked like my bed was always ready for me at night! :p

Thanks! I didn't realize how much I rely on XFire... and this had the added bonus of getting rid of the nag.

Well, when your trying to join a group of friends on a server through an external app and that stupid message box prevents it from working, it becomes a big problem. Especially when you get disconnected in the middle of a game. At least before the message interference you had a chance of making it back in before the end of the round or before somone takes the last server slot you just vacated.

go to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies

and delete all the movies that don't start with menu*.

The irony is that the message you get when you go to the site is that 1.03 is out. Umm, yeah, I know. So you gotta install 1.03 to get this dumb message thingy that connects you to a site that tells you to go get 1.03.

Did i just see Yossarian walk by?

You don't even have to click on it... just click "multiplayer" and you're on your way. Quit bitchin'.

yeah, i kept menu.bik and menu_loggedin.bik

I got rid of all the movies.. why would I keep the ones that start with menu? I see no point.

i like having the background vid going on. looks better. i just hate the start intro.

So there is no way of getting rid of that message box?
Turn it off, by pass it? anything?
Kinda makes using Game Spy useless, as the Box prevents you from joining a server.

We must find a way to fix this.

There is a file in the movie directory (above) called we1come.bik or something like that, kill it.

Why do you two have to be such assholes! It isn't a matter of just clicking "Close" It keeps you from useing 3rd party apps to find servers! I cant use Xfire or BF2 Autoloader because of it! I think you to need to get together and beat the fuck out of each other and shut your fucking pieholes!

The STUPID "Message from EA" Popup stills shows up.

Anyone know how to get this thing out of here.
I would like to use Game Spy again.

A tweaked Xfire and an updated BF2 Autoloader will take you straight to the pop up from ea. After about 7 seconds, you'll be loading your map. In a nutshell, this is what's going on.

Xfire and BF2 Autoloader utilize the command line switches +playername and +playerPassword. So if the user, happybunny has a password of FooFoo, it would look like this:

+playername happybunny +playerPassword FooFoo

That's inserted into the xfire_games.ini and will bypass everyone's new favorite message from ea. Detailed instructions here.

Surely ASE and Gamespy will update their clients soon so as to support the new patch and it's gamers.

justy FYI, when u log in you dont have to click it, click any other thing like BFHQ or Multiplayer and it goes away without touching

You can append the +playername and +playerPassword lines to your Shortcut target box even if you aren't using Xfire or BF2AL.

Then delete the intro movies and you'll be at the start screen in about 6 seconds. I don't know about the info popup though...
