Silverstone TJ09!

Each black box controlls 1 strand of 5' UV blue EL wire.

One for the spider, one for the PSU, and one I am still mulling over...

Yes, she ought to be bright.... hehehe

Hence, all the lights being on the 2 toggle switches. Off might be nice too.... ;)

I'm sure it'll get a KICKASS rating when your done :p. I'd update my TJ09 pics but I seem to have "misplaced " the usb cable for my camera.

Well if you find it, put a few up buddy... ;)

I am excited about this UV paint. I wanted to make sure I had enouigh UV light in the case to get a decent reaction from the stuff, otherwise it would just be clear.

The TJ09 has that nice wide strip of exposed mobo tray running down the right hand side. You can see it from the window with ease. Not too many other cases are set up this way. It is almost like a painters canvas, just waiting for some theme to be applied.

I was looking for air brush templetes that might work well covering the area, but would not be hurt too much by a few cables running through the picture. I spotted the spider web and thought it might work well in that reguard?

Then I wanted some snazz in the hard drive grill area, and the EL spider is going to do the trick.

My case should stand out in the end I think.. ;)

I still don't know what will happen if I put the 2 toggle switches into the 5V positions. Will anything light up, and would it hurt anything to only feed them 5v's insted of 12v's?

The disappearing spider and web, might be worth some extra cool points?

Wow, that looks very nice, very clean. Excellent build. I wanna see some pics with the lights off!

Hello, this is my first post here. I decided to register so I could post pics of my TJ09. Part of the reason I bought this case was because of some of the pics in this thread.

I replaced the stock blue LEDs with White LEDs from LSdiodes.com (I see so much blue, i just had to change it, nothing against the color).
I also have yet to purchase a DVD-RW thats solid black (the gray one i am temporarily borrowing from another PC), and some bigger hard drives.

Some of the parts I got from my job (I work at a small computer store near my house), most of the parts got online.

My specs;

Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4
AMD Athlon X2 6000+
2GB DDR2 PC-6400 (will be 4gb when I can order the next pair) Buffalo Firestix
XFX Geforce 8600GTS XXX Edition
Silverstone Strider 1000W Modular PSU
Silverstone TJ09-BW (Window mod/fan and Green CCFL from FrozenCPU)
16X lite-on DVD-RW (will be getting 20x lite-on soon)
80gb and 160GB SATA Hard Drives (had the 160 from an old PC, 80gb was a gift)
Zalman CNPS 9700 NT Heat sink
3x Black Yate-Loon fans,
Windows Vista Ultimate x64

Anyway on to the Pics:

And yes its in need of some serious wire managrment.

Hey,

I have owned this case for a little while now, and from the moment i first installed everything i loved this case. However there has been one small issue that has plagued me from day one. I have mounted 4 120mm fans around this case, one over the HDD, 2x at the top, and one at the back near the top. There has been a constant rattling noise when the pc is on. I think it is caused by the fans in the rear @ the top exhaust b/c these are the only fans that are pressure fit, in those fan mounting brackets, however the noise stops when i put any pressure anywhere on the case, so its a bit more diff. to be sure of where the noise is actually coming from.

Has anyone else experianced this?, and would mounting fan silencer grommets like THESE fix the issue. Any input would help. All things considered I still LOVE this case, and wouldnt change it for anything:D

Thanks in Advance..

WooD

yeah - I have had rattling noises from the fan areas also.. I push on the grills and sometimes/usually goes away for a good while.. I imagine some gromets might help but first make sure the grills are on tight.. I had to push the metal tabs (on the inside neat the coerners of the grills) over all the way to make a good fit for all the grills.

while I have liked this case a lot, the rattling has been annoying and I want to eventually run a coolit elite cooler.. and that's going to be hard to fit in the tj09.. I had a lot of trouble installing the coolit freezone, and eventually decided against it because of the super tight fit. That big bar running down the side/back of the tj09 is a real PITA.. limits what you can install in that back 120mm spot.. anyways.. I am considering moving to a custom stacker 830 with a clear side..

Thanks for the reply, I will have to try and force the meshing into the corners of the case, as the rattling certainly does get annoying, and Yes, after pushing on the case it goes away for a short while, then returns... I will have to try a couple morethings before jumping on the grommets....screwless fan holders blow...IMO

My build is still progressing... ;)

The rear fan had to be mounted on the outside of the case, due to it hitting my 2 UV lights, when I closed the mobo tray.

I lapped my CPU too:

Installed an extra fan on the back of the sound card.
I am going for air, and water cooled!
That baby is rated at a full 5CFM, so I hope it dosen't take off and fly around the room. :)

A better shot so you can see my wires:

Still waiting on Nov GPU's like lots of others ...
My UV Blue air brushed Spider Web is already in the upper right corner of the mobo tray in this picture.
We can't see it until I get to power the UV lights on. Then it show up pritty good I hope!
I decided to use my third, and last strand of blue UV EL wire on the mobo cable. It will be giving it's light off right on the invisable web.

The ram fan looks better without the purple face. But thats my opinion, and also didnt your mobo come with three of those asus fans? Why dont you use them?

I didn't know you could take the purple face plate off of the ram fans, I will have to look at how to remove it.

The Maximus SE comes with 1 Asus fan in the box. It is the clear one I have installed on the heat sink. ;)

Oh dang i though they came with three, maybe im thinking of a different board. But above i think a guy took them off, well atleast it looks like the same cooler you have.

Thanks, i'll post some completed pics with the lights off tomorrow.

I didn't know you could install your ram fan that way....

Is that just removing all stickers?

Sweet looking rig too buddy!!

Thanks for the post.

i have almost the same setup talon, im looking forward to see if that nb block is restrictive or not

Heres a few snap shots of my rig, Its not 100% done as I had custom covers (Thanks to Zittware) done to cover my video cards. System Specs in my sig. If you notice to I have one video card that wasn't installed at the time of this pic. I also custom mounted a Raptor X in the bottom right of the windows, and stealthed the DVD drive but didn't get a chance to take pictures of that either however when everything is done I will.

I know you guys like Night shots so heres is one, its dark but you get the point

The boys 'in the know' feel less than 1 C between running 1/2" and 3/8" hose, which our NB block is 3/8".

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=145388

It may even jet the water in as it constricts a bit, kind of like one of thoes new D-tek nozzles do?
I believe they give you 1 to 2 C lower temps. I have the quad nozzle installed in my CPU block right now.
I do not believe it will cost us any OCing performance, and it is handy to use the stock ROG coolers.
Also, I really was not up for the battle or removing it.
It has been confirmed that our NB block is copper, so that's a big thing to me.
One of the boys was honing it out a tad, and was getting real copper shavings.

You can see the D-tek quad nozzle in my block. There is also a rubber washer that you install inside the block, that helps to divert more water through the heat sinks on the inside of the block.
The quad split nozzle, is forcing the water directly onto the 2 dual cores on the quad chip.

I ordered some self sealing quick dis-connects that are also about 3/8", when they are open. (Made for 1/2" ID hose)
I will be using these to connect my system to the WaterKegIII Xtreme.
They will make it much easer to do any maint on the loop withought having to drain the entire system.

This chart will make you feel much better about using a 3/8" section in your loop. ;)
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=147767
At least it did me...
I now think our biggest consirn should have been if the NB block was copper, and will it be enouigh to keep our NB happy.
My bet is that it will. Go ROG!
I'm thinking the NB will run cooler on water using the stock NB block, than you can get the NB on air alone with heatsinks.

It should all work out very nicely Talonman, the only reason I didnt add the NB into my cpu loop was because of the hassle it would be to remove it if I had to RMA (knock on wood)one day. Also, what kind of liquid will you be using ?

PS. Nice pipe :p.

Thanks on the pipe!!

I needed 2 things for my water. I ordered them both from Petra's.

1 bottle of Petra's Tech "PT _Nuke" Biocide.

1 bottle UV Reactive G11 (Blue).

I did replace the 2 scraps of hose they give you with the Maximus SE, that are to be used in connecting to the NB block, with some Masterkleer 3/8" ID tubing. I didn't have much faith in the stock hose.

Thanks for the post.

Yeah, I just removed all the stickers as I find the all black look more pleasing. Although, I might not have this case for much longer :(. The mountain mods ufo cases are starting to rub off on me. I guess its hard to turn away from all the room they have to offer.

With me opting to go with an all-in-one active external cooler, it really gives me lot's of room, and a 'neet and tidy' look I think. ;)

Darkaton, You could take your existing rad, res, pump, and fans, and order the WaterKeg Case only, then populate it with your gear. It may work better for you with the TJ09? His case is well made. (Just an option for ya)

Case only link: http://www.externalpccooling.net/Page7.html

Heck, I can pick the PC up and spin it to burp the blocks if need be, also nice.

I still have plans to include my GPU in the loop some day.....

As soon as someone makes it, and I get the correct block and ramsinks.

I just took the top big sticker off of the fans for the ram.

So far I'm keeping the sides, and the 3 fan stickers, but I'm feeling like it was an upgrade!

Looks better.

The purple was just too far off from the blue on the mobo...

Black goes quite nice with everything.

Talonman, is that primer on your MB tray? If so do you plan to paint it or something? My tray is bare shinny aluminum.

Updated completed pictures of my TJ09. Sorry for the crappy pics, I need a better camera. Special Thanks to Zittware for making me the custom acrylic covers to cover my 7950GT's. As you can see I Made a custom bracket to mount a Raptor X in the window. I also cut the top and dropped in a Koolance INX-720, and a DD water block. The rest of the systems specs' in the Sig.

My new baby:

SNC11535.JPG

Right now there's nothing inside it (except an Ultra X3 PSU). Waiting for the next big thing in graphics cards, hopefully.

I sanded, primered, and painted the mobo tray light grey.

You are seeing the light grey paint.

My UV air brushed spider web pattern, is on top of the grey paint, and should light up a bright blue, when UV light hits it.

I favor the light grey over black. It let's you see your computers parts better with a tad lighter background color on the mobo tray, other than black.

I also needed a color that UV blue would show up good on top of.

Again, grey would work better than black, to allow my UV blue paint to show up on top of. ;)

nicolaski,

sorry, big noob here...but i assume those knobs on the front are for fan control? If so, who makes that model you've got in there.

Hi guys, I have a couple questions about this beautiful enclosure.

It's a great case, but the one thing that I really dislike is the harddisk compartment. Do you guys think it will be possible to mount two harddisks in the 5.25" bays instead? I was thinking about using the ZM-2HC2 harddisk cooler, or something similar, and then put my drives in the bottow two 5.25" bays. I use two or three harddisks only and I think I need only one DVD drive. The reason I want to do this is because from the pictures that I have seen it looks like it's very hard to have a clean cable management if the compartment is used. Also, I think my drive temperatures will be lower if I use the 5.25" bays, since the compartment is cramped and the fan is really restricted. A picture to really understand what I want to do:

Also, I would like to know if it is possible to replace the fans with aftermarket ones. I've seen cases in which the fans couldn't be replaced, and I really hope I can replace the ones in this enclosure. I absolutely hate noise and my computer has to be quiet. That brings me to my final question, how quiet is this case? I am aware of the fact that it depends mostly on which components you use, but this case is not rattling and vibrating, right? Keeps noise inside adequately?

Here is my wonderful TJ09BW....Modular PSU coming soon but all the wires are out of airflow so it's all good.

d00d... what a nice fit with the koolance.. I was planning on doing that mod but just never got around to it and finally now just ordered a Nautilus 500 external unit, but wow that looks slick.. nice work!

FYI, (this might be old news, but...) frozen cpu has TJ09 windows with a 120mm fan hole cut in them for additional air flow to the video card area..

I ordered one this weekend so I will post pics and results for sure when I am done installing.. (yes, I know the center fan is good at getting air from outside the case to the video card area, and I know that was one of the primary features of the TJ09, but I think some more fresh (not case) air on my hot SLI card pair wouldn't hurt. :)

the only thing about this window is that the edges and corners are not beveled, so it might not look quite as clean.. I might see if I can shape them a little before the install.

Pics of it first before you round the corners? Just to see what it looks like on the case.
