No, you won't get extra screen area, 1280x1024 =1280x1024. It'll just look bigger that's all. Why?? Well some people prefer a bigger dotpitch some don't. It's really subjective. A reason to get a 19" over a 17" is for watching TV but that's really far-fetched.

Creative Decoder DDTS-100: http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=136&product=9468 it has a lot of digital and analog inputs and a 6ch analog output for a 5.1 speaker system. But it doesn't take care of the video though.

funny, I don't see any matching specs on this list: click so my guess is that the contrast ratio and brightness is backlight dependent??? :confused:
