    Stock Haswell Heatsink

My perception of the stock HS was that it wasn't loud, wasn't quiet. So so, I guess. However, I removed the stock HS today and put a Noctua NH-D14 in;) Idle dropped a degree or two (down to 30-31C) and Prime95 load temp was ~70C. **Side note: Noctua lists the "Patriot Viper Series" as...

    Stock Haswell Heatsink

Do you think 100 is approaching dangerous? Should be safe to do some gaming tonight and deal w/the hardware tomorrow eh?

    Stock Haswell Heatsink

I'll do that but I'll just snag a new cooler if I'm going to bother. The clips on the stock cooler are pretty janky overall and didn't seem to provide much pressure.

    Stock Haswell Heatsink

Yeah, those are stock. Its making me wonder if a corner clip for the HS is loose or something.

    Stock Haswell Heatsink

I'll definitely be buying a better cooler soon. I did my new build yesterday. With the stock cooler I'm aidling around 32-35C and peaking at about 100C in Prime95. 4770K, no overclock. I'm considering water for the first time actually. (anyone recommend a quality, bang-for-the-buck, all in...

    MSI: Z87-G43 LAN issue

That was the answer. I was in tunnel vision mode; focused on the MoBo itself. Thanks for the kick in the pants. edit: by "that" I mean I downloaded the latest driver directly from realtek.com

    MSI: Z87-G43 LAN issue

So, I just installed my new motherboard and 4770k. Everything has gone well so far but the lan port doesn't seem to be working. I also don't have a functioning optical drive in this computer right now. I downloaded every MOBO driver I could from the MSI site but the LAN driver fails to...

Worth upgrading from a i5 750 right now?

I'm in a similar boat. i5 750 at 3.8 I'm about to build my GF a computer and figured I'd upgrade mine and hand the parts down to her. Is the Haswell the best path for me or is there better bang-for-the-buck in the previous generation (and what is that, I've been out of the loop)?

    M3N78-VM does not post

Thanks for the replies. I'll give this a shot tonight. I guess I was just being lazy;) I had swapped RAM a couple of times before the problem began but I've tested this computer with known good RAM so I know that's not the problem. I probably just jiggled something loose or tweaked something...

    M3N78-VM does not post

Hi everyone. I'm hoping somebody has had a similar situation and knows a fix. I'm ready to buy a new motherboard but I'd rather not if I can avoid it. I'm running an M3N78-VM motherboard with a Regor 240 processor. This worked fine for a while but now it won't boot. When I press power, the...

Fianlly Got a 5.0 (No Sub) Surround Setup and I need help with my HTPC

I'm not sure about the 7100 chipset but I had a similar issue w/my 8200 board. I'm running Win7 64bit. I fiddled w/driver versions to no avail. What finally fixed it was running Windows Update and selecting all critical and optional updates. I let those install, rebooted and then ran it again...

Quick chipset and vid card question requarding HDMI 5.1 and 7.1 capabilities

"Yes, the 4xxx series sends up to 7.1, but also does 5.1 surround." Would you say that this holds true for the 8200 chipset as well? I'm trying to make sense of something I read on another forum. Does this rule out what you were saying or can you suggest a way to work around this problem...

Quick chipset and vid card question requarding HDMI 5.1 and 7.1 capabilities

"The 8200/8300/9200/9300 will all do 7.1 LCPM" This issue is so confusing to me. If the 8200 will do 7.1 LCPM does that also mean that it will handle 5.1 LCPM? 5.1 is all I need and I'm running an 8200 chipset. I'm considering buying a 5750 card but I'd rather not if its unnecessary. I'll be...

One player to rule them all....

Interesting, that's good to know. Thanks for pointing it out. This A/V stuff is pretty daunting to a newbie. There is so much information and it can be hard to figure out whats currently relevant. I'll uninstall all but Matroska tonight and see how it works for me. One question I still...
