I use an H105 and MX-4 with my 5820K at 4.5GhZ. I play MWO, which is particularly abusive toward the CPU, and I don't see temps above 54c. It's in a Coolar Master HAF 932 mounted at the top with a 140mm fan at the rear and 4x 120mm fans on the side (nothing special, just red LED Cooler Master...
I played FF14 for a bit, and a GTX 660Ti was more than enough for that game. As far as MWO goes, a 970 is definitely enough, and unless you're going to crazy resolutions, the extra VRAM won't help there. BF4... dunno. I don't play it. The last BF I played was BC2. Star Citizen... you'll probably...
I'm pretty sure they -did- officially pull out of the US market space for awhile. [H] had an article on it going back to February. You couldn't get their cards unless you purchased them online somewhere shortly after the article was published. I was unable to find (except on ebay) anywhere to...
That's essentially what I was seeing even with running triple-channel after taking out the bad RAM stick from my new system. No meaningful performance difference based on the new RAM, even when it defaulted to 2133.
VMs may be slightly more sensitive to RAM performance, and a ramdisk...
No problem. Once my new RAM kit arrives (probably still have a week or so, Newegg does not have an advance replacement policy and unfortunately they were the only ones with this particular kit in stock with a discount on them) I will do an actual full review. I don't expect gaming performance to...
I moved on up from my 2600k to a 5820k. Needed the extra virtualization power. Gaming on it is pretty nice, too, but it wasn't my primary factor for the upgrade.
That appears to be a limitation of the BIOS from what I can see. The stock one on my motherboard does force a bclk overclock when using the XMP profiles, but it appears most motherboards are starting to get BIOS revisions that don't require it.
Here's the quick and dirty results of my testing.
Quick notes: One of my sticks is defective and had to be removed for the system to even boot, so these results are with only triple-channel. Also, despite the RAM being sold as DDR4-2666, it defaulted to DDR4-2133 when installed and only had...
As promised, I will be building and testing my X99 machine tomorrow night. I did the benchmarking on my P67 tonight with my 2600K at 4.4GhZ (44x100) and Samsung RAM set to DDR3-1866 w/ 9-9-9-24 (this is the Samsung super awesome RAM that was built as DDR3-1600 but most people were putting up to...
Playing it on Xbox One. It's essentially Bungie's version of Borderlands. No real amazing new concepts. Plays like Halo Reach but with different weapons for the most part. This is the most use my Xbox One has gotten from an actual game, though, and the first time I've turned it on since hockey...
I think the guys at Hexus and TweakTown did glancing reviews of Corsair DDR4 RAM that can give you a bit more perspective. It seems to me the sweet spot is 2800 with CAS 15 with a slight voltage bump. I personally elected for 2666 and plan on attempting to get 2800 at CAS 15 out of it with 1.3v...
The wait stems mainly from the fact that there are certain regulations in place for auditing such things. Since the regulations don't have something like a weekly timeline, it's entirely "okay" for businesses to hold off anywhere between 1 and 6 months. There really should be some revisions made...
What you mean to say it the price sucks for the consumer segment. DDR4 does not suck to the enthusiast because the enthusiast has a hobby and an upgrade itch to scratch when something new and shiny comes out. The extra bandwidth will be nice. I'm not sure what I'll use it for, I was more...
