My temps are all normal, and the video card fan only hits 60% under full load. How well does a stock Sapphire 4870 1gb cool its memory, though? The memory has hit 93 C under extreme load in a 30 C ambient house.
Can we rule out the possibility of a monitor/monitor cable problem? It's...
Every few days, the following screen artifacts appear. They appear in 2D or 3D environments, at various temperatures, and last from a few seconds to over 30 minutes. They are sort of pinkish red, and seem to follow the contour of certain screen objects, such as the very edge of the mouse...
Here's the update on my monitor. The faded edges have completely gone away on 3 of the 4 sides, but the left side, which was always the most faded, remains somewhat faded. Much less than before, though. It's not something I notice without really looking for it, so I decided to keep the...
Unreal II: XMP did something better than anything else I've played. It was big and fast. Specifically, I love the ability to jump great distances, with control throughout the jump by way of jetpack. Tribes had a much weaker jetpack, from what I recall.
Another example of what I'm looking...
Memory temps are what we should be talking about.
Sapphire 4870 1gb - Stock (750/900)
GPU idle: 45 C
GPU load: 77
MEMIO load: 93 C (max), 88 C (average)
Fan max: ~60%
~30 C ambient for the house, ~40 C Case temp
Will you guys post some memory temps + ambient temps?
Hexadecimal: How short a period of time? Was the faded border going around the entire monitor? Were the units on which you saw this problem new or refurbished?
I've put 20-30 hours on this monitor and I don't think the faded border has really gone away.
Here's a picture that I modified to highlight what the problem looks like:
And here's a picture I found of the only kind of LCD bleed that I know of.
On mine, there's a uniform fade all along the sides (not thicker in the middle of a side) and a uniform fade from the side all the...
Thanks for your thoughts, guys.
Jaguar, what makes you think it's backlight bleed and not backlight death? Backlight bleed might be something I could live with. Previous backlight bleed that I have seen was always very bright right where lcd screen meets plastic housing, and then...
I just got a refurbished LG L246WP that I believe was manufactured in 2007. There is a ~20 pixel border going around the whole screen where the picture is a bit faded. It's only noticeable on darker backgrounds. Does anyone know what this problem means?
I'm using it on analog connected...

That site looks like a great resource for this sort of thing in general.
