My temps are all normal, and the video card fan only hits 60% under full load. How well does a stock Sapphire 4870 1gb cool its memory, though? The memory has hit 93 C under extreme load in a 30 C ambient house.
Can we rule out the possibility of a monitor/monitor cable problem? It's...
Every few days, the following screen artifacts appear. They appear in 2D or 3D environments, at various temperatures, and last from a few seconds to over 30 minutes. They are sort of pinkish red, and seem to follow the contour of certain screen objects, such as the very edge of the mouse...
Here's the update on my monitor. The faded edges have completely gone away on 3 of the 4 sides, but the left side, which was always the most faded, remains somewhat faded. Much less than before, though. It's not something I notice without really looking for it, so I decided to keep the...
Unreal II: XMP did something better than anything else I've played. It was big and fast. Specifically, I love the ability to jump great distances, with control throughout the jump by way of jetpack. Tribes had a much weaker jetpack, from what I recall.
Another example of what I'm looking...
Memory temps are what we should be talking about.
Sapphire 4870 1gb - Stock (750/900)
GPU idle: 45 C
GPU load: 77
MEMIO load: 93 C (max), 88 C (average)
Fan max: ~60%
~30 C ambient for the house, ~40 C Case temp
Will you guys post some memory temps + ambient temps?
Hexadecimal: How short a period of time? Was the faded border going around the entire monitor? Were the units on which you saw this problem new or refurbished?
I've put 20-30 hours on this monitor and I don't think the faded border has really gone away.
Here's a picture that I modified to highlight what the problem looks like:
And here's a picture I found of the only kind of LCD bleed that I know of.
On mine, there's a uniform fade all along the sides (not thicker in the middle of a side) and a uniform fade from the side all the...
Thanks for your thoughts, guys.
Jaguar, what makes you think it's backlight bleed and not backlight death? Backlight bleed might be something I could live with. Previous backlight bleed that I have seen was always very bright right where lcd screen meets plastic housing, and then...
I just got a refurbished LG L246WP that I believe was manufactured in 2007. There is a ~20 pixel border going around the whole screen where the picture is a bit faded. It's only noticeable on darker backgrounds. Does anyone know what this problem means?
I'm using it on analog connected...
Here's a bit of info on this topic:
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/Gaming_with_Blackbars_(Pillarboxing)
That site looks like a great resource for this sort of thing in general.
Say you load up a game and want to play at a lower resolution than what is native for your LCD. Do all modern video cards/drivers allow you to center the image, or is this a feature that must be present in your monitor? Is this some sort of "scaling" that occurs in the monitor, and thus...
Scrolling is very choppy in Opera and the CPU usage of the new HardOCP is very high. In IE CPU usage is still high (spiking at 81% without any scrolling) though scrolling is smoother. This is the type of site that would make me want ad blocking software. What are essentially flash videos...
Those look pretty nice. I guess they're cheap enough to just give the mouse a try, but that's still the cost of a lifetime supply of teflon/PTFE tape.
Thanks Snowman, and everyone else for your experiences.
As far as the foot wear discussion, it seems like a few people with cloth pads...
I doubt he means feet. But calling Logitech to find out if they'll replace feet under warrenty isn't a bad idea. MS would just send you a new mouse if you said the feet had worn down, I know this from experience.
I have had mouse feet wear down in the past, but that stopped when I started using teflon tape (mouse skatez). The G5's feet are too big to tape and I'm concerned they'll get worn down or worn unevenly and the mouse will become tilty.
Has this happened to anyone? Anyone notice any kind of...
I own an MSIE 3.0 and rarely use the second thumb button, but if i did I'd gladly trade it for TWO more programable functions in the scroll wheel's left and right clicks.
Gotcha. Yeah for in-game functions some peoples prefered configurations might suffer. I have two side buttons now but all I use is one for fast weapon switch.
I use 'back' on my browser a lot more often than I use forward. In the event that you do want to page forward, why not just learn the mouse gesture? Firefox or Opera will do.
What concerns me is those giant mouse feet. I want to use teflon tape to keep the feet from wearing down, but i'm...
